i would say it is impossible to be "brilliant" and atheist...

just based off scripture and the definition of atheist....

they become a fool and blind to truth but wise to themself and those who desire worldly temporal and usually twisted knowledge that leads to no lasting fruit

__________

Psalm 14

14 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

___________

1 Corinthians 3:19

19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
She was brilliant, she knew Chaucer backwards, forwards, inside and out.

Atheists are foolish when it comes to knowing about God, but it does not mean they can not be brilliant in other areas. C.S. Lewis was an atheist before coming to Christ, he was a genius in English literature before his conversion and after his conversion.

You can claim to be anyone and everyone on the internet. Utmost discretion must be exercised.
That is my point, exactly. Why learn something from someone who may have no clue what he is babbling on about? If you say you are a rocket scientist and work at NASA, I’d be the world’s biggest fool to listen to you ramble on about rocket science when you are playing a part and just throwing out nonsense.

do you think it's possible to figure it out sometimes?

we have a member with an art degree, and an advanced math degree. now, sure, he could merely say that, but his posts bear out he knows what he's talking about.

okay, with the math, i have to ask my son-in-law, not to authenticate, per se, but to know what in the world it means.
he has a PhD in engineering, and he understands everything this member posts (i do not! lol).

so maybe 'trust, but verify' ? ;)

I have learned quite a few new words on here. Also I have learned that some people on here are nice, while others are not:p.

I have not learned that much about Christ because when someone says Christ is like this or that, someone else says it's just crap.

So, if I wasn't familiar with the Bible before starting "learning" from people here, I would have been very confused after a BDF session.

Can someone learn from me?

I'm not sure.

If your goal is being a loudmouth, I might can teach you a thing or two.

But if you want to learn something useful, go someplace else.

Haha.

Not to be rude, but I did not understand this post. I am sure the problem is on the receiving end and not the transmitting end. I’m not being passive aggressive, I really don’t understand what it is you are saying.

no worries

I chose not to respond on your remarks concerning sexual titillation because I think it would be more than sad if people actually have that sort of interest when responding in the Family forum

I never thought you were being passive aggressive...overly defensive yes...but not passive aggressive

however, I did mean what I said about covert aggression in the Family Forum...the same people go at each other all the time and the entire thread leaves the op out in the dark in many cases. I used to respond there sometimes, but honestly, the best advice anyone could give there, is pray, see your pastor or wisen up ...it's hopeless and you are being had

so doesn't matter and it's fine if i wasn't clear and may not have been this time either :D

personalities conflict here all the time as well as different levels of education, Bible knowledge and understanding, IQ, experience etc etc etc

but everybody is almost always right

I most likely will not get back here, so hope that's ok

I don’t spend a lot of time on the family forum, but it is my theory that people may subconciously respond to threads of an intimate nature to get a vicarious thrill. I don’t think it is conscious.

Oh, I did not know people there were covertly aggressive.

Of course it is ok that you don’t respond to this thread again. I do not own you, lol.

My life experiences have taught me to verify before trusting- and even then not to trust completely. I think I must ascribe to the British justice system- prove your innocence, rather than the American justice system- innocent until proven guilty.

you are very wise in many ways, sis, but there does eventually come, and we never
known until it happens, but 'true-Godly-discernment' will be granted by our Holy Saviour,
perhaps, not all at once, but it is a continual process, and brings much assurance, confidence,
that of course, it totally lacking in this 'fallen-world', before 'conversion'...

You must have me mistaken with someone else. I am the chief of fools. In my time on Earth, I have gained no wisdom and little experience. I will limp along until I die, existing but not living- dragging a corpse hither and yon.
