Responding to Grock again...? I said I was startled awake but afterwards I just went back to sleep knowing I'm safe in God's hands. No fear or terror and there's nothing ungodly about that.

Regardless, I think it's time for this thread to end. :p

Dear FenceMan…I just came across your post doing research for a dream interpretation class I am creating from a biblical perspective. I trained in dream interpretation with Streams Ministry. I highly recommend you watch the TV shows they have called Dreams and Mysteries that airs on DayStar television and can be found on YouTube.

You are correct that there are many types of dreams, but the fact that you remember so many details of this dream and you were aware of colors. I would say this dream was from God. Dreams are a symbolic language (like a night parable) that when the interpretation resonates with the dreamer it can have a profound meaning and instruction for either now or in the future.

I believe this dream is about you and your calling (not end times prophecy). God wants you to pick up your intercession gift you have tabled and God is bullet pointing the prayer he wants you to check on and for the girl in your Sunday school class (she may have a calling to France) these prayers were their covering of hope. You need to seek out a word from God for them hidden in the scriptures. The suicides were reflecting the condition of the church bodies that are dying from within by their own actions. Past pastors who had unfulfilled callings were iced out and frozen to their top positions, which affected the entire body. God is going to shake the foundation of North America’s churches that you will be warned about by a spiritual mentor right before it happens. The children represent new believers that you will shelter during this season in a familiar place of study. The fears of the church will drive them underground, but you will seek to get out when you see this happen.

I hope this is helpful. Something interesting I learned is that we can spiritually warfare in our dreams. What we conquer in our dreams we do not have to encounter in reality. This is a warning dream and a call for you to fight for those in the church and their callings. God bless!!!!

Once I dreamed I was a potato.

It wasn't very exciting.

I hope it wasn't prophetic.

Strange Dream - Thoughts?
There is a vividness and anointing with dreams from God (if there has been no anointing it is not from God); God-given dreams can never be confused with cheese-supper nightmares.

If we have a spiritual dream more than once, we should take particular note of it, for “it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.” Gen 41v32.

To find out what a dream (from God) means prolonged earnest seeking of God it required. Dan 7v28, 1Peter 1v10-12.

Wow. I'll have to think about all of this. Thanks for sharing! As far as engaging in spiritual warfare in dreams, I have kind of experienced that one time. But that's another story...er... dream. :)

There are plenty of mystical and psychic ones out there, but I agree that there is no place to discuss the possible deeper meaning of dreams within a Biblically sound context.

It's also interesting to note the opposition you might encounter from other Christians when attempting to decipher an actual meaning from a dream. Certainly, God spoke through dreams to individuals in the Bible. And not all of them were even prophets (Joseph, Jesus' father for example). But here in the US at least I think we all have grown used to the idea that now that we have Bibles there's no need for more supernatural communications. I understand that thinking, but I just don't see anywhere in the Bible that it says that's the case.

Obviously, if someone attempts to add to the Bible or something from a "revelation" they received in a dream, that's not okay and we should seriously question it. But, if not, it's silly to just brush it off as fake or a wild imagination without giving it some consideration.

Grock have you been violated in your past? or do you have a fear of it? I think you keep having these dreams because the enemy knows about this and is using it to attack you. even if neither of them is true is it is clear these are spiritual attacks and you need help. Both God and the devil can use dreams and if you are continuing to receive these dreams then you need help to be free of them, do you have a pastor or a friend who can help you?

Also something I have noticed when I have been attacked in dreams is that they cannot stand the name Jesus sometimes I can banish them in his name and sometimes I struggle just to simply say his name but even if I have to say his name two or three times they always run away
Somehow I never noticed this comment... Thanks for the concerns, but it really doesn't happen that much. I would say one a year at the very most, and probably less than that.

yeah sadly things like mystics and spiritualists are very popular and also there certainly is a lot of opposition from other Christians about this stuff, if there was a haven forum for people like us that would be amazing of course people also have to understand that sometimes dreams are just dreams and that there is a difference between what we think is a vision and dream from God and what really is. I have met several people who do not have any kind of discernment in that matter

I don't put much thought to dreams or whether they have any meaning other than your own brain processing information while you sleep or recalling things from your past. However, my dreams are often far from average (judging by others' reactions when I tell them about it). I dream music with lyrics and instrumentation that I can write down after I wake up, I once dreamed a detailed story that was an illustration in my pastor's sermon the next morning, I once dreamed that Jesus appeared as I was about to sin and He showed me a book where he had all my sins listed with his signature next to every one as if he had taken the blame for them all, etc, etc.

All this to say, I try not to put much weight to dreams, but perhaps (maybe?) God actually uses them to speak to me sometimes? Maybe. Just sometimes.

Anyway, so that leads me to share a vivid dream I had a bit ago that has stuck with me. I'm curious for your reactions to it.

I dreamed that I was visiting a church that my family had attended ten years ago. We left due to a chronic neglect of the children's ministry and leaders who had their own agendas which were slowly killing the Body. In real life, this church (a very old historic building) is going up for sale because the congregation has finally all but died and they can't pay their debts anymore. It's pretty sad. They could have had an amazing ministry in that city, but they wasted the opportunity 100%...

So, in my dream, the church was preparing to sell the building and they were having a book sale to sell all the books in their old theological library, as well as historic documents from an archive room. I decided to go see if there was anything worth buying. The room where they were selling everything was in the basement of the church where I used to go to youth group meetings.

Everything was laid out on tables and as I looked through the items I found an old church bulletin and recognized my own writing and doodling on it! I opened it up, and inside was a list of people from the church I was apparently praying for, including the name of a girl I was in Sunday School with (I had forgotten all about her before this dream). I decided to keep it, since it was my own after all. Then I went to an adjoining room to look at the pricier archived books and historical church documents.

In that room I met a woman who used to lead the Sunday School programs during the time I was a kid. She told me sadly that the church had never recovered since a man in the congregation committed suicide. She said his name was Mr. Main. She thought I should remember it, but I said it was probably when my family had just begun attending there.

As I talked to her, my attention was caught by a portable coat rack in the room. It didn't have any hangers on it, and the top bar was covered in ice which was shaped into the heads of different animals. There was a giraffe, a dog, and others I don't remember. It seemed to me that the animals represented church leaders who had once hung their coats there.

I was just about to tell the lady about a suicide at my current church when suddenly she froze in place and put her ear to the wall like she heard something. Immediately, the floor began to shake and it was getting increasingly stronger. There were two little kids in the room - a boy and a girl. I grabbed the girl and the woman grabbed the boy. I hid with the little girl under a desk while the "earthquake" continued. In my mind's eye I saw a map of the US and Canada and the destruction from this earthquake was very widespread in both countries.

However, soon it went away and nothing in the room was even damaged at all, though we were still very shaken. The woman seemed panicky, though, and said "I swear I heard screaming out there just before it started!" Meaning on the other side of the wall. But we were in the basement, and on the other side was only dirt... I was beginning to feel very creepy.

Just then, we all heard a ghostly scream echo through the church! I realized that we were also suddenly the only people there when before the basement had been full of people looking at books. Rapid footsteps began coming down a stairway from the floor above as the "thing" was running toward the room we were in! I ran out into a hallway and in the opposite direction hoping to find an exit door to the outside, while the scream continued echoing behind me and was gaining ground quickly...

Then I woke up.

So maybe that's all just entertaining to you read, but any thoughts other than "How much pizza did you have before you went to bed?" :D
I took a look at all the replies here before I wrote this, FenceMan; and I must say that I too find this topic of the meaning of our dreams very engaging, as well.

As to your dream, I think that some of the responses you have already gotten are similar to what I would say... The only thing I would add is that I agree that you seem to have a particular gifting as far as hearing from Jesus via this dream, because the dream you recounted seems like a dream that may very well have a caution or warning in it for you or your church. If you are not familiar with the ideas of some of your "repliers" re: these sorts of issues, maybe one of us can elaborate for you.

Thanks! You know what would be really helpful is if you could give an example of a contemporary situation you know of where a Christian had a dream which held a particular meaning for a future (or current) situation. As in, someone interpreted it and their interpretation was provably correct. Or else, the dream was so specific no interpretation was necessary.

if our Saviour is the propagator of any of our particular dreams, then we will remember them,
other wise, most of our dreams are a means of 'purging'...don't even try and go 'back' and recall them,
for if our Lord wanted to you have to recall them in His detail, then believe me, you would...

Oh, so what you're saying is, a dream remembered is worth remembering. A dream not remembered can be safely forgotten.

Well there was one I had about a year ago maybe less actually and I had no idea what it meant but a person on cc who I wish I could remember what it was described what it meant to me and suddenly the entire dream just clicked.
In this dream I was with my family when suddenly a king appeared to me out of nowhere and he told me I was royalty and was giving me a choice to either stay with my family or go live with him in his kingdom. I had to think for a minute I remember saying to myself I love my family but I have never known what it's like to be royalty and so even though I loved my family I said I would go with him. the second I did we suddenly shot up in a split second and went so high that we entered another dimension entirely like no matter fast or far anyone ever went in the upward direction they could never hope to reach that place.

In this realm I was royalty I even could feel this feeling inside me of what being royalty is like it's not a feeling I can explain but it was strong in this kingdom I was rich beyond my wildest dreams but I looked down at earth and saw that the earth had become extremely poor and knowing how rich I was wanted to give the earth my riches and in abundance. that was when the dream ended and I posted here on cc and a cc member told me it was a rapture dream.

It made sense the king that suddenly appeared was Jesus the shooting up in a split second must have been the rapture itself and the kingdom in which I was royalty must have been heaven. but the riches at first didn't make sense and neither did the earth being poor but then I thought about it what are the treasures that my heart has so exhaustively sought after? I desire a kind of love and closeness with God that has never been had before one that no one not even the apostles knew could go that deep and I want to search that heart of his without limits and continually sink into the ocean that is his heart I want all of him not some of him not most of him I want all of him and I don't care what the cost is.

But my reason for receiving such treasures is not for myself, I have even told God that I will accept however he plans it but if I could have it my way I would ask that I can go home and be with him for a time and receive the treasures my heart has hungered for without limit and in the deepest depth possible but after a time of being with him I would ask that he send me back in the tribulation to share and give these riches in abundance and without limits because it will be a time of utter blood and darkness and a time when his light and love his heart will be needed the most more than any other time in history.

I think the part where I was rich and I saw the earth was poor might very well have confirmed my request to him but I am not entirely sure
