Hi All, I have noticed that banned people can post to these boards. I'm curious about the ins and outs of that. Roger

I suspect you might be asking to be banned, yourself, by even bringing the subject up.

Banned members can't respond to any posts whatsoever. Once a member is banned any posts they wrote usually remain unless they were totally obnoxious and obscene. In these instances these posts are deleted. What you are seeing are posts previously posted before being banished.

I see how easily you can think that, but what often happens is there is a delay between people reporting the person, and the mods seeing the reports and making the decision. So during that time, the current-member, (as in not-banned-yet member) keeps on posting, unaware, (or aware, depending on what's happening), that he/she is about to be banned-member.

I'm known for being nosy, so I sometimes try to figure out why someone got banned, but I'm usually too lazy to read that many post to find out what happened. lol

Actually, it's fine to ask in general terms. Not fine to ask about specific people.

Unless you just have a destructive gambling problem, I think the smarter play is to steer clear of the subject, altogether.

banned people can view the site and even read threads but most banned people wanting to re converse just come back under another username. that is the flaws of forums all you have to do is make a new email and a new username and bam you ninja yourself back in, most trolls and banned users already know this as they have repeatedly come back under new usernames some are very obvious some don't get noticed until later on

I heard banned people go straight to some kind of weird purgatory where they can only be released through the prayers and offerings of the faithful.

I'm going to help them as soon as I find out more about the prayers and offerings of the less-faithful.

There are those that light candles for those that are banished also.

I had a guy from Arizona tell me. (He knows EVERYTHING...... He learned it all by the time he was 18.) All You have to do is send me a crisp new $10 bill for each one you want redeemed.

It's always a relief to hear purgatory redemptions are on sale for Christmas.

From Willie-T:"""Default Re: The banned people. I suspect you might be asking to be banned, yourself, by even bringing the subject up. """ What, forbidden knowledge? LOL I'm just wondering how the system works. Is there a place anywhere that explains all the sub-rosa details of this site? There must be a lot of details. I've looked for a cache of them but have only found jots and tittles here and there. Thank you, subsequent posters, for the answer to this particular question. Roger

Honestly unless your a mod or the site owner your going to be very limited to how it all works it isn't exactly information for us normal people lest we misuse it

Your observation brought you to a fallacious conclusion.

Banned persons can not post otherwise what would be the point of banning a user?

Banning a user blocks the account from being used and changes their user title to "banned".

Mods can see the IP address you're posting from, if they want. CC is pretty forgiving about letting banned posters come back using a different email address—so long as they behave. But if they wanted, CC could prevent posters from using the same IP address to post from. The thing is, that would penalize all parties posting from that IP address, e.g., husband and wife, two employees of the same company, etc. (btw, It's not hard to mask your IP address, if you want to go to the trouble.)

I think most message boards don't mind if a banned poster comes back, so long as they change their behavior. But most people just can't help themselves, and often end up getting banned again for the same infractions. /jmho

'banned' on a site such as this, is a 'crap shoot', after all, remember some of the ones
that they allowed to be 'mods, of course this 'excluses the 'dog'...:rolleyes:
some, were absolutely 'nutters'...
