For this very reason make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue,
and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control,
and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness,
and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.

For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective
or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind,
having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.

Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure,
for if you practice these things you will never fall.

For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

"I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin."

How many of the 31 do you have to fall foul off in order to be considered an apostate?

Wait, wait, wait... that #6, didn't Jesus say all things were possible with God? I know some rich christians. They use their money to do much good.

One sign you might be a Pharisee, is if you make a lot of lists against which to check other christians and judge whether they are REAL christians.

I hear it's three strikes and you're out.

Or... wait, maybe that's a different kind of game with three strikes. Maybe here it's one strike.

Anyway, I don't run into any of them... but if I DID, would I be able to recognize it? If I'm an apostate christian, would I recognize the flaws in my life. For that matter, does anybody, even a REAL christian, recognize the flaws in his own life?

And speaking of flaws, I notice there was nothing in that list about judging other people... Bible does say a few things about that.

A Pharisee wouldn't care one wit about his brother's spiritual condition.

Do's and don'ts?
You must really hate the New Testament then. It's full of them.
(For our good, by the way.)

It is not about dos and dont'ts....

It is about avoiding things that will only bring darkness to your life.

If you were an apostate you wouldn't give two hoots and wouldn't be reading this thread. A list of 31 yet not one of them says identifies what apostasy is.

If a genuine believer can commit apostasy then that is to totally reject Jesus as the son of God who died and rose again.
Once again if you did that then you would not be on this site.

A Pharisee would care a LOT about other christians' condition. Mostly they check other people to make sure the outside of the cup is clean.

Then why do we need this list?

Ooooh, I know! So we can make sure the people we know are all real christians! We can use this list to check all the people around us who SAY they are christians, and make sure they are REAL christians. Cool! I'm gonna go do an inventory of all my friends now. Don't want to be surrounded by fake christians. ;)
