Default Did Mary question God the night Jesus was born? What are your thoughts?

Do you think Mary questioned God the night Jesus was born? She was pregnant with the Savior of the world. She was entrusted with the greatest assignment ever given. You would think God would have cleared out a room in the inn. You would think God would have showed her some favor and rolled out the red carpet. God doesn't go grand just because He calls you to do something extraordinary. He doesn't erase the not so good things in your life just because you're one of His. If things aren't going that great right now, just remember Jesus' birth in a lowly stable. Amazing things come out of unpleasant places!!!"

I've meditated on this...if God had opened the door to the inn...where would the angels sing? Where would the Shepherds have gone? Would the innkeeper have let in such motley crew? How would they have kept it a secret? Wouldn't it have jeopardized Jesus' very life? How could Mary take in privately so much beauty? I'd far more have my child "alone" than all the hoopla. I'm different I guess. I 'ran away' as a child of 3. I didn't like the arguing going on...I knew from "TV" runaways never get far...so I ran to the hayloft, snuggled in with the kittens, trusted Jesus for safety, for I was afraid, and I fell asleep in the hay. No greater love than that. My parents feared for we lived on a large farm. My mother found me. She never asked or questioned me. I forgave so I never told.

    MATT. 2:11.

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother,
and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures,
they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

    MATT. 2:1.
it never mentions the number of 'wise men'...why (3) is assumed, is anyone's guess...
but I do know that God had them skee-daddle' out of there real fast for their safety
after they had worshipped and honored their new born King...

All I know is, Todd Agnew put my idea of Joseph's thoughts into words pretty well.

"Yes I sing at church. And I sing at work. And I sing at home... and in the car... at the supermarket... at Wal-Mart..."

I like the reflection but the birth wasn't about Mary, it's about Jesus.
It's unheard of that a person of royalty would be born and placed in the feeding trough of animals.
This is furthermore to the point that there was nothing physical about Him that would you draw you too Him.
He wasn't given a grand pompous entry but a lowly one and His exit according the flesh was a disgraceful one but in the spirit, magnificently triumphant.

This is the stumbling block that would have and still challenges our cultural mindsets on who this Jesus was and is

There is no mention of how many wise men,but they must believe there is 3 because there is 3 different gifts.

    =======================================
    Matt,

there are only (3) gifts mentioned', surely there were many more than just three, I can't
even imagine what all I would want to bring to this precious event,..,
and of course, some of their 'gifts' could have been the same as the others brought,
plus many more.,.it would just be human nature, if God informed you of something so special,
that one would want to bring everything that meant the most to you in order to honor
what God had invited them to partake of...

Even if Jesus had been born in a golden palace, His birth could be seen as lowly simply for taking on flesh to walk this world after sharing the glory He had as part of the Godhead. What a dirty rotten world this has become as the result of humanity's sin. Yet so great was His love for us, that He came to give His life and shed His blood as a ransom for many

The Greek word for the room where He was born was not an inn, but simply a home where guests would stay. In that day, Bethlehem was too small of a village to have an actual inn. More likely, Mary and Joseph had to sleep in the downstairs because all the other rooms were taken. That downstairs during the day was like a work room, and at night it was used to shelter frail animals while the rest of the flock was left outside. The houses did have a drinking trough or manger cut in the bedrock. This probably was where Jesus was placed right after birth.

I used to think it was just a stable too until I did some studying about the customs in those days.
