It was such a nice evening yesterday, (cold but sunny) that I decided
to walk home from work, about 2.5 miles.

I walked through a local park and noticed crocuses just coming through
under the trees. So I took a couple of photos.

Anyway it got me wondering how spring is springing up where you are.

Punxsutawney is about 1-1.5 hour drive from me. If you ever saw the movie Ground Hog Day with Bill Murray, you know about what happens there every February 2nd, (minus the time loop he got stuck in. lol)

This is how our winter is still doing --

BUT! You also know what makes it all worth it to me right now!!!

Tomorrow. Minneapolis. Eagles gonna whomp some Patriotic tush!

I never understood the concept of Groundhog Day. (apart from repeats).

Somehow I have this image if all this little furry creatures all popping up at
the same time.

The days are getting a little longer. The sun a bit brighter and warmer. I heard birds chirping the other day. Baseball spring training is almost here. Thank God football ends today. Winters (eventually) gonna turn to spring ! Hope will return with it.

First signs of spring here: it warmed up from -25 (with a wind chill of -35) to -15. At least in the daytime, today.

That's in Celsius, by the way. The warm spot in the province was the northernmost village. I think this polar vortex has outstayed its welcome.

this thread has me in anticipation of warmer weather being I'm on the very fidgety crisp cool and cold east coat weather waiting for .......

behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.
Song of Soloman 2:11-12

Ask again in April :p. More light is huge, as is the returning migratory birds. I've been called crazy before but there is a distinctive smell, even before the snow starts melting in earnest. Later, we have flooding from the runoff of the snow, baby chicks and calves, grasses, swelling tree buds, and daffodils... and tree tapping. A little after that you get the earth smell of plowing all around as the farmers put in their crops...ah...I am getting excited :D. I am not sure that spring isn't my favorite season, after all! It always seems so fitting to me that Easter, the celebration of our Lord's resurrection, is happening when the whole creation is coming alive again :)

One of the first signs of spring is when the pin oak tree in my front yard finally loses its leaves. It's the last tree in the neighborhood to finally give up the previous summer's leaves. :)

one of our mustard plants went to seed,
saw wild violets had sprung forth in the back yard,
with the many trees around, they are putting forth pollen,
and many are experiencing terrible allergies to them,
many of our friends had caught lingering virus, and we've
noticed it has affected them really bad this year, more than other years,
we think it is due to their poor immune systems through diet...
the camellia tree is slap full of blossoms,
many birds coming and going, etc...

You must be in Los Angeles. It was 88 in the Simi Valley yesterday, where it's always summer. But spring doesn't start for another 6 weeks!
