The temptation will return though, because alcohol makes reality go away for a while. That is why it is so popular. Drinking makes our reality go away for a while.

Be ready for it when it returns. Be aware that it will return and be ready for it. If you know it will happen again and you prepare for its return you have a much better chance of standing against it.

Thank you Lynx , and yes I agree with you...I have noticed a pattern...A few days or so before the temptation strikes , I get the thought of a drink , then I cast that though down , then it pops up again and I do the same thing , then when temptation strikes , out come the excuses " Well I have being doing so good blah blah blah "...

Now I know when the thought starts off , that is when I need my armour suit , if I do not put it on straight away , am done for...I believe each time I fall , I learn something new...Thank you once again...xox...

Thank you...I have just woke up after a couple of hours sleep , feeling a bit shaky but more guilty , letting our Lord down...I just thank God I stopped when I did , I used to drink till I was sick , I had about 5 glasses of wine , did not go out the door , did not play any old music , my whole behavior was changed this time round , I can only thank God for that...

Today is a new day , fresh start as you said , thank you for your prayers...xox...
Dear sister, we never let the Lord down, He knows us, and all our failures and
weaknesses.

What God sees is the day we will stand with Him resurrected in eternity.

When you are shaky, and in need of something, draw near to Him. Start praising,
starting singing, start dwelling on who He is and what He has done.

The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
Come and see the works of the LORD, the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire.
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. "
Psalm 46:7-10

Sometimes the world and life get too much for me and I just curl up and remember
as a child I sought comfort with my mother. Now I curl up and seek comfort in the
Lord, knowing His loving arms comfort and shield me, He knows my needs and wants,
He heals my wounds and makes me whole again.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
Psalm 147:3-5

I spent my childhood not knowing cuddles, or concern or love.
I spent two years when I met my girl friend, learning to be loved by just
being cuddled. I had spent so so so much time alone, as if no one cared,
and it hurt unbelievably, but here now I had a part in my life that Jesus had
brought to show me His care.

Alcohol numbs these things, but does not answer them.
So I share what I have gone through so that you might find a way to feel
that love and care that is there for you in Jesus and those who love you.
This is how we conquer addictions, because we no longer have a need to be
numb but desire to share the whole that God has made complete.

I hope and pray this may help you.
Grace and peace to you, in Christ Jesus

Thank you so much LLH...This was very touching and I can also relate to your testimony...You are correct , the only one who can and does fill our needs is God :)...

Today I am doing just like you said you have done , I am sitting with my LORD as I feed on His Word , today I feel at rest , I know I will grow from this little step back , can not see it yet but I know my Almighty will reveal it to me...Thank you once again for the lovely verses that we can so easily forget when we are troubled...All the glory to God \:)/...xox...
