I try to avoid songs that bring back many memories. Not due to bad memories, but because for so long the memories have been better than the present.

Music is like a time machine, isn't it? I can usually remember things in great detail, just from hearing a song. Some stayed buried for a while, but no problem listening to them now.

Sometimes we feel defeated. But I personally always find it comforting to remember that we're children of the King!... we're joint heirs with Christ :)

Thanks Ugly. You had me thinking about this, and God gave me this scripture tonight :)...

2 Cor 4:16-18:

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal"

Great rendition of MacAuthur Park - one of me favs...a soaring dramatic song. I remember years ago hearing a music critic despising it as one of the most overwrought songs in history. It made me smile as confirmation of what a truly excellent song it was!

" Highschool crush". There was this boy who stole my heart :D And I thought He liked me too :D ( well,I know He did) Our teacher asked us to present something in front of the class...and he volunteered to sing a song  he sang this song..."saying this is for you" looking towards my direction... Oh my! Years and years passed by I can still remember those eyes...

I was young and shy..... He even asked me to practice to dance with me for our prom but I declined his request...but deep inside me I was dying to dance with him :D :D :D

Wow! Remember when the song was big, but didn't know that was Waylon. I don't remember him at all until a decade later, when I heard of this thing called "country music."

Now listening to it, I remember where I was once when it was on the radio. Bedroom, getting dressed, in IL. Which means I was probably getting dressed for school. Outside it was bright out. The type of bright that goes with "crisp winter morning." Snow was blowing, but it wasn't snowing. Snow was always blowing -- I live an hour from Chicago, and it's not just The Windy City. It's the windy area. Across the street I can see black trees. No leaves on them, so the trunks really stood out in the stark winter landscape. Also the only trees within miles of where I lived. (I lived in a development, that used to be fields and fields of corn. The only reason we got the scenic view is because across the street was the low point, where all the rain drained into, so no one should build houses there. It was like the drainage ditch.) And, since I lived there when I was 15 and then again at 17, that tells me which years it was.

Nothing amazing happened when I heard that song. I think the only reason I remember that time was because he was complaining about leaving a cake in the park in the rain, and I really wished it was warm enough for rain. lol

Ah, man! I can't believe they were banned. (Well, I can definitely get why they'd be banned, but, man! Those would be the songs I'd want to listen to all the time if I was stuck over there.)

And, where were you two years ago when I was preparing a playlist for hubby for when I brought him home finally? He had been in the hospital for four months and rehab/VA nursing home for three months. I needed seven songs for the ride home.

This was the first song I included. Also, probably one that was banned in Nam. lol
