I didn't think of it as the act of the indwelling, I thought of it as my life being surrendered to God at a particular time, followed by my baptism of intentional purposes. I figured it was God's job to stick it down in the inner most place of my soul, shoot I was 11 years old how was I going to stick anything inside me from outside in? It had to be God, who thru the death and life of Jesus, brought it to me and placed it there by His acts of sacrifice and Gods act of grace., thus, I was just filled when I surrendered - period.
The love of God hath been shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Ghost which was given unto us (Romans 5:5).
If any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of us (Romans 8:9).
Basically we are either in Christ or we are not. God does not give His gifts at random, nor dispense them in any arbitrary fashion. They are given freely to all, but they are given on a definite basis. God has truly “blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3), but if those blessings which are ours in Christ are to become ours in experience, we must know on what ground we can appropriate them.
In considering the gift of the Holy Spirit it is helpful to think of this in two aspects, as the Spirit outpoured and the Spirit indwelling. Faith is living by the guise of the Holy Spirit in things already accomplished in Christ which we set out to conquer God's purposes and intentions thru Him in our life as well, as we live like Christ lived. Thank you for letting me share in here.
