The older bucks certainly CAN be tough, but the only deer I've ever had mounted (it was not that big, but just very symmetrical... "pretty", if you will) was a big (for Texas) mature buck.... and that deer was some of the best eating venison I've ever had. Older bucks, beyond their prime, can get tougher, just like any other animal.

Wild pigs are notorious for being tougher and less appetizing, the bigger they get. I've taken a couple that were in the 125-150 pound range that were very tasty.
I've never eaten wild pig, but sounds interesting. Have you ever had bear meat?

No, I have not. I've heard it is very similar to pork, since both animals are sort of from the same "family"... or so I've been told.

Male bear= boar female bear=sow...

woo hoo! Full freezer!

I've only had elk once, and it was very tasty. I'm working on a semi-guided cow elk hunt... trying to get the details worked out. I don't care about the nice rack... don't have a wall big enough for it, anyway. But a nice, fat, cull cow elk? mmmmm.

Nobody I know, except me cousin Frank, hunts for trophies. That's mostly a white man thing. Trophy bucks are tough, and you just about have to beat all the meat with a meat hammer to eat it.
GOD BLESS you Didymous! XO <><<

Yeah, elk is good. The first time I eat it every year, it has a laxative effect on me, but only the first time.

It depends on what we are hunting. Endangered species, like an elephant, no. Deer, that over are populated and cause car accidents yes.

What always gets me though, is it evolunitionest that want to protect animals when the theorie between an evolutionist and the mandate by G-d are so backwards. G-d says tells us to be good stewards of the Earth while evolutionist believe in the survival of the fittest. It's ironically funny, an evolutionist wanting to protect animals they do not believe in their own theory......

Their theory never made sense anyway, since-if God didn't create life-then man should be able, but hasn't yet and never will. Even Native Americans knew there was a creator.

people who dont advocate hunting must not live near an area with game, get out of the city some time. ill tell you i lived on a lake next to a big forest the amount of time I, My Family, Friends, Neighbors, Random people have smashed a dear because of over population. that being said, have you seen the damage they do to the Green. try having a garden, landscape, a farm in a densely populated game area.

Hi,
I live in a Country Town, near The Great Dividing Range, you can see it close by from both back & front of the house. Pigeon House Mountain, I'm & not far from Ocean, whales, dolphins, seals, so much marine life it would take me a whole page & more to list all. Lakes Rivers, & State Forrest, & Protected Wild Life Reserves, Protected rare animals of all kinds in the Bushed lands, & mountain ranges.
Most picturesque place to live, South side of Australia,
Most Glorious & Magnificent place, I am honoured that GOD placed me here 23 years ago to live, where I was born in the City of Sydney AU. I grew up in an Adventurous family life with Dad always taking us children, on 6 week long holidays every year, to Coffs Harbour, up North New South Wales.
For six weeks every year of my life until 16 years old, spent that time, fishing, eating all kinds of seafood, my Dad was a very clever man, he hand made all kinds of things for, fishing, spearing, netting, pumping, caging, for our food, & bait. Tow bars, bull-bars, every thing to make the car, safe, & equip, all hand welded by himself, before our holidays.
All natural hardly tainted by man, at that stage. Mum, Dad & us 5 children lived off the, ocean, river, mangroves, anywhere we could catch our food, plus native fruits & vegies, living just like natives, & loved it.
When not on holidays, Dad & Mum , took us, every weekend, Bush picnics, BBQ in the Bush, cave exploring, beach & rock fishing, Horse riding, Camel riding, Elephant riding, water skiing, bush walking, swimming, traveling across Australia by car with no proper road to Western Australia. So many native animals of all kinds both protected, & animals classed as vermin by man. (not by GOD)

So, no you are wrong Sir, do not assume, that you know anything, about me, or why I posted what I did, because you don't. You are defending what you do, & why you do it. Which is your free will, your choice. I am defending the rights of GODS created Masterpieces, animals, & how they are mutilated by Man for all the wrong reasons, if you want to kill for food, ok. If animals are out of control in numbers, then? There is always a reason, & a way of helping to change things for the better. Killing for sport, or trophy hunting, is a disgrace, is no something to brag about, especially as GOD fearing Christians. I do not see the GOD I know seeing a Thread like this one, & saying, well done good & Faithful servants, do you?
I would like to see animals treated like the living, breathing, feeling, creations of GOD, to be treated with respect, as you have no knowledge of me, until now, & I could tell you more, but what I have shared is enough.

The LORDS Will be done!
In JESUS MIGHTY name!
Amen & Amen! <><<

Jesus has made it very clear through our history what is good and what is bad for us!!!

and yes, God's people are hunters and gatherers, always were and always will be...
