"Greensleeves" is the tune of "What Child is this?" And "I do not know" is the title of a song to the tune of "Londonderry Air." Today, i just heard "He looked beyond my faults/Amazing grace" lyrics to this same tune.

Will you share other such songs you know?

Not Christian songs, but I can think of two pairs of songs which are like that:

"Sweet Little Sixteen" - Chuck Berry
"Surfin' USA" - Beach Boys

"No Particular Place to Go"
"School Days"

(both songs in second pair by Chuck Berry)

Twisted Sister's We're Not Gonna Take It and Christmas song O Come All Ye Faithful. Here's mashup of the two.

Real by Die Happy is quite similar to Metallica's Enter Sandman. Both songs were recorded around the same time and the similarities were a random coincidence.

Video removed cuz CC doesn't let me post with two videos

There are two songs that can be turned into just about any other song, if you just swap the words out. One is Amazing Grace. The other is the theme from Gilligan's Island. Matter of fact, you can even swap the words to both songs to fit the music to the other song.

If you know the words to Amazing Grace, try singing it to this song.

You know, you can do that with "The House of the Rising Sun" too. Just insert text of Amazing Grace. It's a bit weird.

There are A LOT of pop songs that have taken tunes from classical music.

"Don't You Know" was Musetta's Waltz
"Full Moon and Empty Arms" was one of Rachmaninoff's piano concertos (I forget which one).
"Some Day my Prince Will Come" (from Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs) is from Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky.

I could name a bunch more, but it's late!

Amazing Grace to the tune of "I'd like to teach the world to sing", the Coca-cola song of 20 to 40 years ago.

The tunes of several of the great hymns started out as popular drinking songs. I think this includes "A Mighty Fortress is Our God".
