I have learned how to calm and quiet my soul as David says in Ps. 131. Might as well post what I do here, even the silly ones. Because there is a part of me that has some monsters under the bed if I looked long enough.

1. Keeping my eyes on Jesus - on how greatly I'm loved, and that He only desires the best for me. He knows His reasons why this is allowed for me.

2. Not judging what I think is best for me.

3. Through prayer and listening, to get God's perspective on how he sees what I'm going through. One perspective is that this is a relatively short time in my "life" which includes eternal life. This will pass in God's timing. Another perspective is that the benefits are outweighing the suffering even though the benefits are not always seen clearly by me.

4. Speaking softly to MYSELF with words of assurance and peace. (Your postings are giving me the encouragement). Words like "It will be okay - this is only temporary". "Jesus is sharing this with me". Etc.

5. Humming - it is an inner heart massage. (Really!)

6. Not speaking of worries which only feeds the feeling. Quietness really does nurture faith.

7. Whispering to myself, "Be still my soul".
