I tend to want to be doing something like eating, smoking, or playing video games, and its like a mental computer program that has a need to need something, if that makes any sense. Like, I was trying to stop cigs, and I was somewhat successful but I felt like I was empty without the act of smoking. Part of it is boredom I think, just sitting there, doing nothing, and trying to fight against a nicotine craving, however small.

I think the point is you are trying to fight the cravings. We are human.. weak and imperfect and all that implies. In order to truly win any battle with the flesh, we cannot rely on our own efforts. The true battle is getting to the place where you recognize your inbility to succeed and truly and completely give it to God. At that moment, your battle will be over! :)

I smoked heavily for ten years, then spent two years trying to cut down and quit, then I quit. It takes about six weeks to get over them, I think. I didn’t find boredom to be a problem, though. The sooner you quit, the better. I think cigarettes do permanent damage to our lungs.
