Here is another good quote from J. Oswald Sanders book "The Incomparable Christ" in which Sanders demonstrates the perfect sinless life Jesus lived.

"The Incomparable Christ"

"A study of Jesus' life reveals a consistent sense of immunity from sin. Never did He evince the slightest discontent with Himself - a grave fault in any other man. Never did He shed a tear over conscious failure. He demanded penitence of others, yet was never penitent Himself. Nor can this self-satisfaction be explained on the grounds that His standard of duty or sense of moral obligation was less exacting than that of His contemporaries. The reverse was the case. His code of ethics was immeasurably higher than theirs, yet not once does He admit that He has in any degree fallen short of His own standards. At the end of His life, as He communed with His Father in His loving sacerdotal prayer, He claimed to have accomplished perfectly the work entrusted to Him (John 17:4). In any other case than His, we would be justified in regarding such claims as obnoxious pride and arrant hypocrisy. In His case, the facts substantiate the claim."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 13, pg 137-138

Here are more words of J. Oswald Sanders from his book "The Incomparable Christ." These are from his excellent chapter regarding Jesus' role as "Teacher."

"The Incomparable Christ"

"Jesus is the peerless teacher of the ages. True, He lived in an age when many outstanding teachers had exercised far-spreading influence, but in solitary splendor, He towers above them all."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 16, pg 164

"Jesus' authority was not the magic of reputation, but the irresistible force of a divine message, delivered under a sense of divine mission."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 16, pg 165

"Our Lord never wasted time on secondary topics but always dealt with the fundamentals in man's thinking. The speculative and theoretical found scant place in His teaching. He always went right to the heart of things. All He said and taught revolved around the plan of salvation in one or other of its aspects. Nothing shallow or trivial passed His lips."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 16, pg 166

"Jesus impressed on His hearers that doctrine was valueless unless transmuted into holy living... His Sermon on the Mount is the loftiest ethical pronouncement of all time. He did not scale down His ethical demands to meet the limitations of sinful human nature."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 16, pg 166

"No sermon Jesus preached lacked its personal application. Nor was His method always to reserve the application until the end. When the sermon began, the application began. No member of His audience was left in doubt as to the person to whom it was applicable. They were either enraptured or enraged, but they could not remain neutral."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 16, pg 166-167

"It is of interest to note the dominant themes in the teaching of the Lord, and to test our own teaching by His standards. It is noteworthy that He did not propound any special system of doctrine, nor did He adopt the current theological jargon, but spoke the language of life. He dealt with deep and enduring principles and master truths of perpetual relevance."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 16, pg 169

J. Oswald Sanders chapter on "The Humility of Christ" was very humbling to read, indeed. And by reading how humble Jesus lived His life, it is very convicting as to how we too are to live humble lives as His followers, as Sanders wrote, "If humility was the distinguishing feature of the Master, then it must characterize the disciple."

"The Incomparable Christ"

"Had Jesus never spoken a word about humility, His daily life and circumstances would have been a constant unspoken rebuke to the pride and self-exaltation of the men and women with whom He associated. He was not only a standing rebuke to pride but a living example of humility."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 17, pg 173

"The works of great philosophers of past days will be searched in vain for exaltation of humility as a virtue. In vain will their lives, too, be examined for evidence of true Christian humility... Not until Jesus came with His peerless life and matchless teaching was humility elevated to the level of a primary virtue. Humility as a grace is the creation of Christianity."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 17, pg 174

"Meekness plus lowliness constitutes humility. Meekness is humility in relation to God. Lowliness is humility in relation to man. It is possible to be meek and not lowly. Jesus was just as meek toward God as He was lowly before man."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 17, pg 175

"Because Jesus' humility was the expression of His innermost attitude and not a temporary pose, He unostentatiously donned the slave's apron, and moved in and out among men as the servant of all. He drew attention neither to His achievements nor His humility."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 17, pg 176

Jesus, I need you! I thank you for carrying me through whenever others mocks me, makes fun of me and tries going with more people against me! I might feel all alone at times and seeing not much support around me, yet you are always there by my side. And you make me stronger than them all, because when I am in your strenght no one else can keep me down! Thank you! :)

Colossians 1:15-23

The Supremacy of the Son of God

"The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because ofyour evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant."

Here are quotes from J. Oswald Sanders regarding the important and much to be emulated prayer life of Jesus.

"The Incomparable Christ"

"Though truly divine, Jesus' deity in no way affected the reality of His human nature. His prayers were as real and intense as any ever offered."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 19, pg 190

"When confronted with great crises or with demanding tasks, we instinctively turn to prayer. But once the crisis is past, the task achieved, the tendency is to once again lean on our own ability or wisdom. Jesus guarded against that tendency by following up with prayer. After what had been perhaps one of the most successful days of His whole ministry it is recorded that, instead of courting popularity, He sent the multitude away and departed unto a mountain to pray (Matthew 14:23). We would be well advised to follow our divine exemplar in this habit."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 19, pg 193

"Jesus died praying. The habit of a lifetime cannot be quenched even in the hour of death. His last utterance was one of trusted prayer (Luke 23:46)."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 19, pg 194

"It would appear that of all His characteristics, the prayerfulness of Christ impressed His disciples most deeply. They did not ask Him to teach them how to preach or heal or teach, but they did make a request that each of us could take on our lips at this moment, "Lord, teach us to pray" - (Luke 11:1)."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 19, pg 196

I have now finished reading the book by J. Oswald Sanders called "The Incomparable Christ" (which has immediately become one of my favorite all-time books). And so I would like to make one last posting in this thread specifically concerning it. These are random quotes from throughout the book that help to conclusively demonstrate the "incomparableness" between Jesus and every other man that ever walked the earth.

"The Incomparable Christ"

"Most men are notable for one conspicuous virtue or grace - Moses for meekness, Job for patience, John for love. But in Jesus you find everything. He is always consistent in Himself. No act or word contradicts anything that has gone before. The character of Christ is one and the same throughout."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 1, pg 20

"Jesus knew more of peril than most, and yet when faced with it He never evinced the slightest timidity or fear. The highest form of courage is not that of the blind enthusiast who in a moment of exultation runs great risks, but that of the man who though clearly foreseeing the consequences of his actions, nevertheless continues unwavering."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 11, pg 119

"In the death of Christ the centuries of sacrifice found their culmination... Never again need one drop of sacrificial blood be shed."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 29, pg 289

"Jesus drank a cup of wrath without mercy, that we may drink a cup of mercy without wrath."
- J. Oswald Sanders, The Incomparable Christ, Chapter 20, pg 204

The Name of Jesus

"...you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins" - Matthew 1:21

"How Sweet The Name of Jesus Sounds"

How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds
In a believer's ear
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds
And drives away his fear.

It makes the wounded spirit whole
And calms the troubled breast
Tis manna to the hungry soul
And to the weary, rest.

Dear Name, the rock on which I build
My shield and hiding place
My never-failing treasury, filled
With boundless stores of grace.

Jesus, my Shepherd, Brother, Friend
My Prophet, Priest and King
My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End
Accept the praise I bring.

Weak is the effort of my heart
And cold my warmest thought
But when I see thee as thou art
I'll praise thee as I ought.

Till then I would thy love proclaim
With every fleeting breath
And may the music of thy Name
Refresh my soul in death.

"We are to learn of Christ, and we are to learn Christ; He is both teacher and lesson. His gentleness of heart fits Him to teach, and makes Him the best illustration of His own teaching."
- Charles Spurgeon, from the sermon - "I Will Give You Rest"

"If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done for you."

"He who prizes Christ makes him his greatest joy. He can delight in Christ when other delights have gone... He who esteems Christ can solace himself in Christ when there is an autumn on all other comforts."
- Thomas Watson, The Godly Man's Picture, pg 52

"Jesus Christ is the best of shepherds, the best in the world to take the over-sight of souls, none so skillful, so faithful, so tender, as He, no such feeder and leader, no such protector and healer of souls as He."
- Matthew Henry, Commentary on the Whole Bible, pg 1583

"We have a Savior who was far more willing to save us than we are willing to be saved... Christ is just as willing to receive and pardon, as He was willing to be taken prisoner, to bleed, and to die."
- J.C. Ryle, Expository Thoughts on the Gospels, Volume 4, pg 210

"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."

"No King But Christ"

Ye armies of the living God
With banner, shield and sword
March onward, shouting as you go
"No king but Christ our Lord"

Salvation, glory, strength and power
Ascribe to Him alone
Whose truth established firmly stands
Eternal as His throne

Untraversed regions, boundless realms
Their great first cause adore
He rules in majesty supreme
And reigns from shore to shore

March on, ye victors through His grace
To Him your trophies bring
Creator, Savior, Prophet, Priest
Redeemer, Lord and King

All crowns be on His sacred head
All worlds be at His feet
All scepters in His mighty hand
All tongues His praise repeat.

"Without Christ, you cannot believe in the Father, as in one that will show you any saving mercy, but only as the devils, that believe Him just, and tremble at His justice. Without Christ, you cannot love God, nor have any lively apprehensions of His love. Without Christ, you can have no hope of heaven, and therefore no endeavours for it. Without Him, you cannot come near to God in prayer, as having no confidence, because of no admittance, acceptance, or hope. Without Christ, how terrible are the thoughts of death!"

"We cannot contemplate too often what the Savior endured in order to secure our salvation. The better we are acquainted with His sufferings, and the more frequently we meditate thereon, the warmer will be our love and the deeper our gratitude."
- A.W. Pink, The Seven Sayings of the Savior on the Cross, Chapter 6, pg 89

"Some may complain that it is cruel of God to make us suffer in order that He might be glorified. But we must remember Christ also suffered greatly for us that we might be glorified through salvation for all eternity. If God Incarnate suffered so much for our glory, we certainly have no right whatsoever to complain if we are asked to suffer a little that He might be glorified."
- John G. Butler, Elijah - The Prophet of Confrontation, Chapter 4, pg 85

"Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?"

The teachings of Jesus are relevant even today:

Luke 16:19-31 (New International Version, ©2011)

The Rich Man and Lazarus

19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

"If we are desirous to profit aright by meditating on the death of Christ, we ought to begin with cherishing abhorrence of our sins, in proportion to the severity of the punishment which he endured."
- John Calvin, Calvin's Commentaries, Vol 17, pg 290

"Let our hearts be touched with the feeling of that exquisite pain which our blessed Savior now endured, and let us look upon him who was thus pierced, and mourn... And when we behold what manner of death he died, let us in that behold with what manner of love he loved us."
- Matthew Henry, Commentary on the Whole Bible, pg 1406

"He was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed."

"The glory of the Christian faith is that the Christ who died for our sins rose again for our justification. We should joyfully remember His birth and gratefully muse on His dying, but the crown of all our hopes is with Him at the Father's right hand."
- A.W. Tozer, The Radical Cross, Section 1, Chapter 3

"The death of Christ in the New Testament is the death of the One who is alive forevermore. To every New Testament writer Christ is the Lord, the living and exalted Lord, and it is impossible for them to think of His death except as an experience the result or virtue of which is perpetuated in His risen life."
- James Denney, The Death of Christ, Introduction, pg 17

"Why do you look for the living among the dead? Jesus is not here, he has risen!"

Christ and Aaron

Jesus, in thee our eyes behold
A thousand glories more
Than the rich gems and polished gold
The sons of Aaron wore.

They first their own burnt-offerings brought
To purge themselves from sin
Thy life was pure without a spot
And all thy nature clean.

Fresh blood as constant as the day
Was on their altar spilt
But thy one offering takes away
Forever all our guilt.

Their priesthood ran through several hands
For mortal was their race
Thy never-changing office stands
Eternal as thy days.

Once in the circuit of a year
With blood, but not his own
Aaron within the veil appears
Before the golden throne.

But Christ, by his own powerful blood
Ascends above the skies
And in the presence of our God
Shows his own sacrifice.

Jesus, the King of glory, reigns
On Zion's heavenly hill
Looks like a lamb that has been slain
And wears his priesthood still

He ever lives to intercede
Before his Father's face
Give him, my soul, thy cause to plead
Nor doubt the Father's grace.

By Isaac Watts

"Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus."
- Hebrews 12:1,2

"The person of the Savior is to be the mark on which the eyes of those who are pressing forward for the prize of the high calling of God, are to be fixed. Be constantly looking to Him, trustfully, submissively, hopefully, expectantly... Seek the help of the Holy Spirit that the eye of faith be steadfastly fixed on Christ."
