I was raised believing tattoos were wrong, then one day my mom got one and all hell broke loose so to speak. i tried finding a verse or any passage other than "thou shall not desecrate thy temple" the temple being our bodies, But thats the only reference i got. so are tattoos bad? I have 5 am i in trouble with God for that?

While there is not a lot of scriptural evidence, I think that the general feeling is that Christians should not desecrate their bodies by getting tattooed. But, you are not in trouble. That is the good news of the Gospels. That is why Christ died on the cross. If you repent and ask God for forgiveness, He is ready to forgive you completely. (You might not want to get any more, though. ;) )

A tattoo might seem cool now, but it could prove to be a major embarrassment when you get older.

All things are permissable. Does the Spirit convict you that tattoos are wrong?

So could children.

Potential embarrassment years down the road isn't a particularly compelling reason not to do something. If you're unable to look back on your youthful follies and feel amusement rather than embarrassment, the bigger problem is a lack of maturity and compassion, not a tattoo. If you realize years down the road that you were going through a stupid phase, it's an opportunity to rejoice in your growth, not shame.

Besides, if you're very concerned about it, there are inks which are more easily removable than others. Some inks are even designed to dissipate harmlessly when exposed to particular wavelengths of light.

God says:

"1Co 6:12 "Everything is permissible for me"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"—but I will not be mastered by anything." I believe this is the key: "...but I will not be mastered by anything."

So we are to examine ourselves daily to check ourselves and to determine our motives, and to see if there is any "wicked way" to be found in us. What then is your motive to have tattoos?
