When you sign that paper to become a Church member you are not signing up to be a member of Jesus' body. Church membership is not membership in The Church. It is a piece of paper that says you will follow the practices of that church, or that you will give your money to that church, or that you will except the doctrine and ideas of that church. It does not guarantee you eternal life. It does not make you any closer to God, and it does not bring you into fellowship with believers.
Fellowship with God is by the Holy Spirit. The Church of God is not members of Church, but members of Christ. The Church is not that building, and their altars are not where salvation is. The Church is anyone who is lead by the Spirit of God, and not by doctrines of men. The Church is anyone who has been baptized in the Holy Spirit with evidence also. The Church is pure and holy, and without sin. Jesus Christ is the builder of The Church. And this building is not made with hands. Church membership does nothing for you. Be yoked together with Christ, and you will not be yoked together with unbelievers.
