so im looking for a new laptop [R.I.P. Gertrude] and I was wondering if anyone knows of any good sites to compare laptops and such. Also if you have any suggestions on brands or stuff. I really want one with a disc drive, so none of those little wimpy ones! lol and I also kinda want a built in camera. the highest I'm willing to go is about $500 bucks. I'm just looking right now though, cuz i wont be able to afford one until about the end of the month. I also dont know too much about computers! lol =]
thanks! =]

consumerreports is a good site. I have three Gateway computers, two laptops and one desktop and so far I have had the best luck with them. Gateway is a good computer, also my sister has a Sony VAIO which is more expensive but Sony is good also. It is probably very rare you will find a computer with a 3.5 inch floppy disk drive.

For a laptop, I will suggest a Toshiba Satallite. Keep an eye out for sales either on the Toshiba site or places like office supply stores. I bought mine believe it or not from Walmart. They ran a sale on them for under $400. That model does not have a built in camera, but they have models that do. I have had the HP that failed 54 days after the 1 yr warranty and also have a Dell lattatude now..but still will recommend the Toshiba. Its an awesome PC. Also the other brands I had got too hot under the bottom, which requires you to sit them on something after awhile, or a table.

so i looked up the Toshiba Satellite and it looks really nice! it has everything I want. Now if only Walmart wasn't out of stock! lol but maybe they will get them back in stock when I can afford a computer in about a month. at the Toshiba website they were about $100 more than walmart.
