LETS PUT ON OUR GLOVES AND LETS CONTEND WITH SIN!!!!
Now, you cannot give sin a black eye (No eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth with this one LOL). BUT WE FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST THAT WE SHOULD HAVE NO CONDEMNATION IN US!!!
And now my brothers and sisters, we can see that this fight is more prevalent in these last days. Because we see this war that the Apostle Paul gave witness of.
So, just how do we fight sin? HAHA here is how:
First, we know that our own strength cannot overcome sin, but Jesus has, and so since he has, if we follow his example he will also overcome sin in us also. So, the main thing we have to learn first is:
1)LOVE!!!
This is the greatest commandment. Because in this command we see what is perfect and acceptable with God. If we are rooted and grounded in love we will not be shaken nor moved. BUT GUESS WHAT!!! GOD IS LOVE!! AND HE SAID, THIS IS MY SON, HEAR YE HIM!!! So in Jesus was the Love of God. So, we need to obey Jesus then if we want to learn how to love.
All other things as pertaining to righteousness and striving against sin IS ROOTED IN LOVE! But what is the thing that keeps us from being rooted in love? THE LUST OF THE FLESH, THE PRIDE OF LIFE!! THE LUST OF THE EYES!! Because the root of all evil is the love of riches. So if you love the things of this world you are not rooted in the love of God, and your life will not stand the judgment.
WE DON't FIGHT WITH WEAPONS OR PLANS OF OUR OWN CREATION! WE FIGHT WITH THE WORDS AND LIFE OF JESUS!! WHICH ARE SPIRIT AND LIFE! And if they are Spirit then they do war against the flesh, so that the flesh is offended, but the Spirit is willing. And if they are Life, then the old fleshy ways are dead and the Spirit lives in you!! And the fruit of the Spirit grow from you!!!
So, I want to show you what the Lord showed me:
I was full of lust, and even now I am at a fight with it. Yes my friends I fight lust, I fight it hard. It was against my soul. I fight anger my friends, I fight it all the time. I fight bitterness and hypocrisy and jealousy, and all the things that you fight. I am no better than you. I am where you are, so that perhaps we can be where Jesus is! I want to encourage you then.
But how do we fight these inward things (which do manifest outwardly)? It is perfect how. Jesus dealt with all of these things, and though we can learn lessons from the lives of his servants before him, we don't see victory over sin in either one of them. But Jesus fought sin right on. He confronted it right up, and sure, he died for it. BUT AS IT WAS WRITTEN FOR YOUR SAKES!! YOU HAVE NOT YET STRIVEN AGAINST SIN TO DEATH! And you should not be afraid to do so.
-So, if we are tempted, remember what Jesus said. If you want to get angry at someone, speak peaceably with them, (I know it is hard but practice it, and repent if you slip).
-If you want to fight bitterness, instead of meeting someone with the same evil, bless them instead, and forgive people right away, because the longer you wait the harder it gets.
- If you want to fight jealousy, then be content with what you have. Because it was written, THOU SHALT NOT COVET OF YOUR NEIGHBORS POSSESSIONS!
- If you want to fight lust then focus on loving people.
- If you want to fight death, THEN GIVE UP YOUR LIFE!!!
But don't you see my friends, that Jesus fought on every front to be an example of how we should live in this world. And we can see a great hope now right!!?? That if we love each other, and our neighbors as ourselves, and the Lord God with all of our heart, then we will keep all of his commands.
My friends, Jesus teaches us how to do this, so that as he overcomes sin OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN in us, we will be conformed to his very image. As it was written, and they overcame by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony!!!
