The Earth in the Bible is not taught to be millions or billiions of years old. Because God created the Earth and all that's in it in six days. You can study the geneology of the people in Bible (you know the list of how long they lived). When you calculate all the ages of people and stories from Adam to Abraham the Earth is like Seven thousand years old! Millions of years before mankind is false because God created the Earth and everything in it in six days!

Everyone has an opinion about this, but the truth is all is just theory. For scientists they are trying to prove something while using methods they haven't been around long enough to see how things vary and thus cannot fully be sure they are right. For creationists they make all sorts of assumptions about things though don't really know for sure. For example God who has no need for time as he is eternal used days when it came to creating, but we don't know for sure that this wasn't more than God setting a precedence for a day of rest or sabbath. Next we have Adam, says he lived 930 years and then he died, but consider the fact that before they were kicked out of the garden there was no need for time as they were with the tree of life giving them eternity with God. And Adam named every creature, that was likely to take a while.

All in all we don't know.

i believe the earth is somewhere around 6000 yrs old

The Bible plainly teaches the earth is young, a conservative guess is about 6000 years old.

Curse the person who said ignorance is bliss. Where do the dinosaurs fit in to all of this? The earth has to be at least older than a few thousands for them to have ever existed? Please don't tell me God planted all of this false evidence to test our faith. Come on, you guys can't be this dumb.:( Please start thinking for yourselfs.

Nope the Bible mentions dinosaurs in several places, they didn't exist millions of years ago. See the following video:

That site is biased. It's main goal is to prove a literal interpretation of Genesis not to provide information. There are no facts or evidence just theories based on events in the bible.

However,there has been evidence that the earth is at least millions of years old. Radiometric dating tests are used on fossils to find how old they are. Don't think that scientists just choose a random radiometric test and record the data. They choose appropriate tests based on the sample which have been proven to be accurate by comparing the radiometric date of an object with its actual date.

Not only is this used for fossils but also for the rock layers of the earth itself.

Radiometric dating doesn't work. Not with samples older than a few thousand years anyways. And fossil dating is based on circular reasoning and also doesn't work; they date the fossil by the rock layer it is found in and they date the rock by the index fossil found in it. I think it's good to remember you are trusting those people for what they believe is proof. Most Christians would take the Bible over science. A good question you might ask, is Adam (the first man) is never mentioned as a child. God created Adam (he could have looked 40 years old the day he was created!)
If Adam was created a 40 year old man then the earth could have all the carbon dating of years and just be made of carbon.
