I wanted to call this thread confessions of a sinner, but that would be misleading....

I hope to read honest responses on how Christians experience living in the Spirit. I found a great website called, Power to Change and they offer spiritual support to people who want to live in the Spirit. Recently, I made bad choices and found myself wanting to truly live in the Spirit so this website was an answer to that prayer. I am sharing and asking for a general discussion with honesty.

The website explains:

Although the Holy Spirit lives within all Christians, not all Christians are filled or directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us there are three kinds of people; the natural, spiritual and carnal

The Natural PersonTHOSE WHO HAVE NOT TRUSTED CHRIST’S DEATH TO PAY FOR THEIR SINS AND THUS CHRIST DOES NOT LIVE IN THEM. (See 1 CORINTHIANS 2:14). The circle represents a person’s life. The natural person directs his or her own life and thus sits in control. (S). Christ (+) does not live in the natural person’s life and is therefore outside the circle.

The Spiritual PersonTHOSE WHO HAVE TRUSTED CHRIST AS THEIR SAVIOUR AND ARE TRUSTING IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT TO LIVE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE. (See 1 CORINTHIANS 2:15). The spiritual person has invited Christ (+) into his or her life and has allowed Him to take control through the Holy Spirit. The person therefore yields to Christ’s direction.

The Carnal PersonTHOSE WHO HAVE TRUSTED CHRIST TO PAY FOR THEIR SINS, BUT WHO ARE TRUSTING THEIR OWN EFFORTS TO LIVE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE. (CARNAL REFERS TO “FLESH” AS OPPOSED TO “SPIRIT.”) A CARNAL CHRISTIAN LIVES IN THE ENERGY OF THE FLESH, NOT IN THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT. (See 1 CORINTHIANS 3:1-2). Although Christ lives in the carnal person’s life, the Holy Spirit is not allowed to direct it. Instead, the person remains in control

Lesson Three: Power for Living Power to Change

If you are going to respond and simply tell me that you are a spiritual person and you never give in to temptation then please offer some truthful insights. I want to be spiritual, but at this time I have to say I've been a carnal person. I am challenged by my flesh, but I find that a lot of the Christians on this forum (not all) act as if they are always following the path of righteousness. I hope people can get real because it might inspire us to understand how we can change - plus I'm a sucker for testimonies.

WELL THE SCRIPTURE THAT SAYS YOU MUST EAT HIS FLESH AND DRINK HIS BLOOD MEANS BE SPITITUAL.
OBEDIENCE IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE. I MUST SAY YOUR POST HIT HOME WITH ME. TO WALK IN THE
SPIRIT MEANS READING THE WORD, GOING TO CHURCH, HEARING THE WORD,DOING THE WORD
USING YOUR GIFTS IN THE SPIRIT. BEING BABPTIZED LITTERALY WITH THE HOLY GHOST. I HAVE EXPERIENCED
ALL THESE THINGS AND THAT WAS THE HPPIEST I HAVE EVER BEEN.FOR 2 YRS I HAVE BEEN TAKING CARE OF
MY ELDERLY PARENT AND HAVE NOT BEEN GOING TO CHURCH, AND I CAN SAY I AM NOT
THE SAME AS I USE TOBE SPIRITUALLY, I FEEL CARNAL. MY POOR MOM CANT HARDLY WALK ETC. I USE TO LOVE TAKING PEOPLE TO CHURCH ECT...
THATS MY TAKE ON IT. BE BLESSED WHAT DO YOU DO

Damombomb, I'm sorry to hear of your parents. it must be a real struggle especially when you feel like you have to give up going to church to give them the best care. My heart goes out to you and I am saying a praying for you. You ask a good question about what I do to be spiritual, while I don't go to church, I use to do daily devotions, but now I am seriously surrounding myself with Biblical reading and studying the Bible to truly seek Christ. I am confessing my sins in a way that makes me truly think about my attitude, thoughts and actions. I understand that temptation can be great and that it isn't a sin to be tempted, but what I do with the temptation is what I need to focus on. I am making an effort to go back to church, but I'm letting my pride get in the way. I'm praying about going to church. I praise God through song even though I really shouldn't be singing. I love listening to gospel music. I'm sure there is more I could be doing, but that is where I am right now.
