There was a slave who was a slave for many years under a tyrannical master. Hard labor and hardly any pay. It was bondage. But over time the slave got used to the labor, and used to receiving food from his master's table. And then all of there hope for life came from his master's table. But his master only served him contempt.

Then a man came along telling the slave of another master who is fair and just. Who can save him from his master. But the slave mocked him, seeing no hope of another life other than that he was accustomed to. He mocked him, and other slaves (slaves that were treated better by the old master) tried to deter him from going (knowing this would do the master great harm). So this slave was in between two opinions. One way he could serve a cruel master, or he could leave and follow the other man and hopefully meet another master who is fair. I say hope because he has not seen it, but he has to believe it and follow the man to see it. If he gives up and goes back to the other master he will never see his hope. He might say, IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!

But one day the slave is convinced and he packs his bags, he wants to carry all his possessions with him. He cannot walk and he will grow weary, because he is trying to walk with all his old baggage. But if he wants to continue and not get weary, he has to DROP THE BAGGAGE!!!! He cannot make it holding on to old baggage.

In the wilderness, Israel tried to hold on to old baggage, and many of them perished in the wilderness.

My parents got kicked out of their home last year and my mom wanted to hold on to old baggage. HOW CAN SOMEONE LIVE IN A NEWNESS OF LIFE WHEN THEY HOLD ON THE OLDNESS OF THE FORMER LIFE WHICH WILL KEEP THEM IN BONDAGE!!

I know now why the Disciples had to travel so light. It is purely through faith that one is sustained till the end. WILL WE SEE THE HOPE OF THE PROMISE?? LET'S WALK WITH JESUS!! LET'S RUN THAT RACE, WITHOUT THE OLD BAGGAGE!!

May Jesus bless you.
