Jesus attitude to sexual sinners.
The Pit...
A homosexual fell into a pit and couldn't get himself out.
A pharisaic fundamentalist came along and said, "You deserve your pit."
A psychologist came along and said, "Accept your pit. That way you'll be happy."
An apostate liberal came along and said, "Your pit is God's beautiful gift to you."
A gay activist came along and said, "Fight for your right to stay in your pit."
A researcher came along and said, "Discrimination against pits is illegal."
A charismatic came along and said, "Just confess that you're not in that pit."
Respectable people came along and said, "We don't associate with pit-dwellers."
His mother came along and said, "It's your father's fault you're in that pit."
His father came along and said, "It's your mother's fault you're in that pit."
His wife came along and said, "It's all my fault you're in that pit."
But Jesus, seeing the man, loved him, and reaching into the pit, put his arms around the man and pulled him out.

Lad, I have been reading your posts and at the moment would like a little direction from someone that has been in your position. Last night my best friend's son told her he was gay. My heart is broken for my friend. What can we do to minister to him that this is not the way. He, like you has not acted on these feelings to this point.

Well that depends on whether hes a christian or not.... But either way ultimately all you can do is show him love and let Him know you, his parents and God love him no matter what and guide him to loving himself.

Oh be careful with the love of self.... that is what pride and self focus come from, which is self idolatry. Let him know that God does indeed love Him and is an open choice IF he wants to accept the gift that Christ gave to him on the cross and allow Jesus to take the burden of all his difficulties, anxiety, problems. So when the world persecutes us we can rest safely in His presence as we persevere and continue on :)

I wish it was that simple. But I firmly believe someone becomes a homosexual because they have no 'love of self' or self esteem, or that they dont feel worthy to be in their gender. So yes what this man needs is to know hes loved and to be guided to loving himself.

Glad to see predestination is gaining wider acceptance.

Can we really blame ignorance anymore?

I believe in predestination but not in the way you might imagine.

Well, for example, yesterday I "chose" to eat at a pizza restaurant. I did not choose but I was always destined to eat there yesterday because of my personality, my memories, my environment, etc. If you were to setup up that event exactly and I mean EXACTLY the same way I would always chose to eat at that restaurant. It might appear that we have free will but in fact we are subject to our genetic makeup and our environment. There might appear to be an infinite of possibilities but in fact in reality there is only one possibility. The problem is that it's impossible (or at least nearly impossible) to determine what that one outcome will be because there are tons of variables and it's hard to interpret how these variables affect us. You believe that God is omniscient so he's the only one who can determine this. But let me ask you this. Is it possible for God to determine his own future actions due to the fact that he himself has this ability?

So you believe that if someone kills someone else, it's not really the murderer's choice, but he was "predestined" to do so? Does that mean we should not punish those who do wrong?

Not sure I agree with that.

I mean no offense but this is sort of a "here we go again" moment. It reminds me somewhat of the discussions on creation and evolution which pop up pretty regularly on this site. To my way of thinking, here is the bottom line. God can do anything He wants, any time He wants. To think that, in any way, those "endless possibilities" are beyond God's comprehension is put limits on Him which just do not exist. In Isaiah 55, verses 8 & 9, God tells us, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,...As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." In Jeremiah 32:27, He asks, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?"

Therefore, I believe that the course of this world was determined at creation and God knows everything that is going to happen, including, obviously, what He, himself, is going to do.

But if he knows what he is going to do then he's able to do something different but therefore he does not know what he's going to do because of the power itself. Sort of a paradox.

LIKE!

I do not believe in predestination; I believe we have free will, though I understand the concept of, "Given our circumstances, what we have done and seen in the past, we will always make the same choice," the point is WE make that choice, not God.

I've described it this way: This universe is a play that God has written. However, God has given some of the actors (the humans) the right to ad-lib and improvise. On top of that, God wrote himself into the play as a character (Jesus), to interact with humans. With regards to God being the author, God has total control, but that doesn't mean we don't ad-lib from time to time. Sometimes we do what God wanted us to do, according to the script, and sometimes we don't, and God works from there.

If God knows everthing and is everywhere and everytime he must have felt, is feeling , and will feel the most extreme boredom that can be felt.

P.S. If we are indeed made in his image and he is filled with love than why can't he be filled with boredom?
