If you were to ask me if I loved God, I would honestly reply, "Yes."

If you were to ask me if I was in love with God, I would honestly reply, "No."

I know God sent His only son to die for His people, and I am truly grateful and in awe by it. I love Him for what He did, but I feel like it stops at deep appreciation. Many Christians I meet all talk about how they are so in love with God and how wonderful God's love is. I have felt that love, and I love Him back...but I feel like I'm not IN love. It's like a mutual relationship that you see in families; two siblings who are close, but not best-friend close. It's like they know the other is flesh and blood and they love them for being family, that's all.

I don't really have a question per-Se, but I feel kinda lost. I guess I was hoping someone would have some kind of advice, and not the usual "Read your Bible, pray everyday, etc." advice....something deeper than that.

I do get where you're coming from. And I don't think you should worry too much about this. What counts most is what you now have with God, and loving Him is much enough.

I see nowhere in the bible where it is written that we must "be in love" with God, or at least it is not in the same sense as how it is between humans romantically. Sure, it is written about going back to that first love you had with God. But whether first love means being "head over wheel's in love" or loving God in "a deeper way", that is not described in that verse. Your love for God should be so strong that if you'd face persecution or even death, you'd remain strong commited in your love appreciation towards Him, and being willing to letting go off your own life 'cause of Him.

Sure, there have been moments I have been feeling deeply in love with God. Anyhow; I don't always have this kinda feeling over me. But still, there is no doubt that God remains still as important in my life, as what He has been for me earlier in my life too. I also think it is experienced different from person to person how they experience their relationship with God. For some it might be easier feeling the way those Christians you've met, whilst for some others it can be seen totally different. Yet, they may all have the same love for God. As well as where we are in our walks with God and what we've gone through in life can also form us, though most of all God is the one who know's us the best. And the way you love God, is seen and known by Him. Remember that God is the one who teached you how to love, He is the one who sown that love within you. As long as you keep yourself close to Him, and that He becomes/is your everything. Then you shouldn't worry, and just keep on trusting Him and that love appreciation you have for Him. God know's about it. :)

God's Blessings!

I love my family more than anyone else on earth. I am not in love with my family. I think this depends a lot on how you would use the phrase "in love". I love God like I love my family and I know I would die for them. I don't know if this will help but maybe will provide another viewpoint. :)

My love is deep, total.

"In love": Emotions embraced, buzzing. :Good, but not necessary.

That's me.
