The unity of the faith is faith in Jesus Christ and in his words. And this unity is a gathering of the saints of God by the Spirit of God.
Now, this requires a spiritual mind to see, as carnal minds can't see it. There is a way of edification by the Holy Spirit that is always peaceable and pure, and not contentious. In the seeking, we sometimes don't find the best edification. But I know of fellows that do see a better edification.
This is the duty of the body, to edify other members, to build them up.
The Holy Spirit gives gifts to some. Some to be Apostles and others to be Prophets, and some teachers, and others gifts of healing and others gifts of discernment, or prayer, or mercy.
All of these gifts are meant for the edification of the body. Now, I say, body, as in your brother and your sister. All serving under one head, Jesus Christ, knit together by the Holy Spirit.
Each office or gift edifies others, maybe in different ways. But all should seek for edification.
Now, we know that sinners are not a part of this body, but if there were no sinners, there would be no body to be built up with. So, as we all were sinners, and Jesus drew us to the truth about God by his Spirit, we also as members of the body of Christ draw others to the truth about God, by his Spirit. Not by our might, but by his Spirit!!
The more the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth, the more we are edified into the image of Christ, till there remains NO SIN in the body. No defilement.
Now, there are those who say they are of the body, but are not. You know them by their fruits. So, to the world it is an image of God, which is not an image of God, but of men who presume to know God.
But the image of God is in Christ, and in those who have Christ in them, who also are lead by the Spirit of God.
These are the saints, the Church, the chosen generation, the royal priesthood. All the members of this body serve the same head by the same Spirit. And they will NOT receive another.
May Jesus bless you.
