Forgiveness means a lot of things to me, but one aspect of forgiveness I've been learning about in recent years is the importance of extending forgiveness to others in equal amount that God has shown me. This is to prevent hypocrisy in us, as well as healing broken relationships. Forgiveness definitely brings about healing between Man and Man in a way nothing else can accomplish, just as it does between God and Man. One of the best descriptions I've come across concerning this aspect of forgiveness is from the Westminster Theological Wordbook of the Bible, as seen below;
"To accept God's forgiveness for ourselves means to participate in a vast project of reconciliation, by which God is restoring the whole creation to friendship with God and with one another. This gives faithful disciples the power and the obligation to forgive sins, both in God's name and in our own. Indeed, the Christian community exists through and for the constant widening of the circle of forgiveness and the new kind of human unity this makes possible."

"They will receive receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God's people."
