It seems lately that more and more organisations are using controversial ads to cause people to think, including churches. What are your thoughts on these type of ads? Do you think the ads are serving their purpose or just creating more problems?

Some examples are the recent rape ads, Mary with pregnancy test.

I've seen those two in the news. I think the rape one is a bit weak in getting its point across. The one with Mary just seems pointless to me. If there is a message in her finding out she's pregnant, then I missed it.

I haven't seen the rape one. I only saw the Mary with the pregnancy test ad and the one with her and Joseph in bed (which I personally found hilarious). That church claimed they wanted people to think and see the true meaning of Christmas through those billboards. If the thinking they were shooting for was, "...wha???" then they succeeded. Also don't understand the uproar with the one of Mary holding a pregnancy test. Are these people just finding out now that she being pregnant with Jesus was part of the story? lol The one with Joseph I can understand the complaints, but aside from being historically inaccurate in that pregnancy tests didn't exist back then, I don't get the uproar. She was pregnant... whether you believe she had sex or not she was pregnant in the story so that billboard's really not very blasphemous.

Ad's are supposed to be controversial. That's how you remember them.

I have been thinking of how to make a controversial ad for toilet paper. It's a quest of mine.

I dunno... I think the Charmin bears beat you to it. They seemed harmless but whether or not a bear would use 4 or more squares sparked arguments like you wouldn't believe.
