That link doesn't get me very far: "You must be logged in to view prayer requests".

A simple answer would be "no", and I think said answer applies universally.

As already stated NO! Prayers are answered by God, who looks in the hearts of people.

It should be ok if they are just collecting money to meet the costs of running the website, but no one should make a financial profit from praying for others.

I personally don't think that even this is necessary (as a website can be built and run for next to nothing these days), it certainly isn't in a Christ like spirit (that He, the Apostles and the early Church displayed) Who's only desire was to give and not receive from those who needed it...

It was the spirit of agape love which moved and motivated the ministries in the early Church, Peter could say 'that silver and gold I have none', Acts 3v6, Paul declared that he coveted no man's gold, silver or apparel, Acts 20v33. One of the criteria for service as a Pastor, Teacher, Elder (and Deacon) in the early Church was that they should not be 'greedy for money.' Such was the poverty of the Master when He walked this earth, that during His ministry He and the Apostles had to sleep out in the open because they had no money to pay for a place to stay. Matt 8v20, Luke 9v58, 1Cor 13 (all), 1Tim 3v1-16, Titus 1v5-9.

It is a most evil thing to fleece money from God's dear people...2Peter 2v1-3.

I believe that the problem here is perception. All ministires have costs. TV/radio ministers such as Charles Stanley, John Hage, Joel Osteen and the like have huge organizations that must be run, and funded, in order to further the Word of God all over the world. All media-based ministries, including this one, are funded by donor gifts which are given freely by believers who support their mission(s) to bring the Gospel to as many souls as possible.

If this web site we are discussing has set a direct monetary value on prayer; e.g., "for $5, $10, whatever, we will pray for you", that is absolutely wrong. However, if they are soliciting donations to help offset the costs of operating their ministry, I believe that this is perfectly acceptable. After all, that is probably their only source of revenue.

God bless.
