Thank you for the welcome.
Ultimately, does the Lord have x amount of days planned for each person, or is it just that He knows the end from the beginning? Psalm 31:15 is the closest scripture reference I got when looking up the words, "days" and "times" in my limited NIV study Bible concordance

scripture says life is like a vapor, here one minute, gone the next. God knows our beginning and our end. yes i believe that our days are numbered. scripture says its appointed to men once to die then the judgement. scripture also says be ye ready for you know the day nor time whereby the son of man shall appear. if you take this at heart, only God has the power to give life and to take it away. He has the last say so wether you live or die. so yes, He knows. God bless.

The question is if God only knows the future, or if He actually determine it. Is it only foreknowledge or predetermination? What is your view?

Be it predetermination, then where is our supposed freewill? I believe it to be foreknowledge.
Also, NIV and NKJV are substantial enough for new believers, in my opinion.

I found the story! turns out I got some of the details wrong, sorry. It was king Hezekiah and Isaiah: 2 Kings 20 1IN THOSE days Hezekiah became deadly ill. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came and said to him, Thus says the Lord: Set your house in order, for you shall die; you shall not recover. 2Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, saying, 3I beseech You, O Lord, [earnestly] remember now how I have walked before You in faithfulness and truth and with a whole heart [entirely devoted to You] and have done what is good in Your sight. And Hezekiah wept bitterly. 4Before Isaiah had gone out of the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him: 5Turn back and tell Hezekiah, the leader of My people, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your [forefather]: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord. 6I will [a]add to your life fifteen years and deliver you and this city [Jerusalem] out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for My own sake and for My servant David's sake.

Hey, thanks to all who responded
![]() Was just wondering...scriptures to the effect that the power of life and death is in the tongue etc do seem to indicate that we have some sort of control over the issue...probably like God having two wills kind of thing...His perfect will, that which he would prefer to happen in our lives, and His permissive will, that which He allows to happen in our lives? |
