What do you believe to be the best classical music out there?

I'm looking for some artists to listen too...but there's just so many!

Greetings Zackabba. It is cool to see someone of your age that actually enjoys classical music.

If you're interested, I've put together 4 YouTube "quote" videos in which I used some of my favorite compositions written by Johann Sebastian Bach as the background music (many do not know he was a devoted Christian). I will place the links below if you'd like to hear the 4 songs (the performers are listed below the videos).

Obedience To God - Richard Baxter - YouTube

The Book of Proverbs - YouTube

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 - YouTube

The Cost of Discipleship - Dietrich Bonhoeffer - YouTube

I actually used to listen to bands like the Kinks, the Beatles, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, artists like Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, etc...but, after I became a Christian, their appeal started to lessen on me. I've found some great Christian artists (in my opinion) like Keith Green, Rich Mullins, Bob Bennett, and Phil Keaggy...but I haven't found any other artists I like (and I don't like contemporary music much at all).

So, I thought, I might as well move on to classical music and see if I'm missing much. :) I've found some pieces I like ( Relaxing Classical Bach music - YouTube ), and I've liked what I've heard from your videos so far. The link in the parenthesis is the kind of classical music I like...are there any other songs like this? (and this goes for anyone else reading this as well).

Thank you!

Maybe tomorrow I would :) With classical music it depends a lot on my mood at the time. This music sounds a bit tense to me - that doesn't mean I don't like it though.

So, I would be happy for you to share more! I would ask if there's anything like this though that you listen to: Relaxing Classical Bach music - YouTube

I'm quite partial to Chopin. He has this one piece that starts off all soft and innocent, and then it EXPLODES in a flurry of 16th notes!

How could you name just one piece of classical music as a favorite? I have so many that I love, I could never narrow it down to one. I like some pieces from pretty much every style of classical, from medieval to modern.I love so many pieces of classical music that it would be too long to enumerate them. There are so many pieces of classical music; it's really hard to pick just one. Every kind of classical music is great.

I usually don't listen to classical music a lot cuz the kind of music i like is a huge contrast. I love rock, that are really fast paced, but i also like classical stuff that are kind of calmer and slower especially when i need to relax and sometimes classical piece helps me slow down, unwind and fall asleep at ease..I really enjoy playing it with my violin..Some of my favorites are:
Swan Lake Ballet (Music) - YouTube
Vivaldi - Spring - YouTube
BEETHOVEN.ODE TO JOY - YouTube
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart--Eine Kleine Nachtmusik - YouTube
Mozart-The Marriage of Figaro - YouTube
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Piano Concerto No. 21 - Andante - YouTube
Bach : Minuet and Badinerie from Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B - YouTube
Bach - Brandenburg Concertos No.5 - i: Allegro - YouTube

This list is getting long..And that's only some of my favorite pieces that I can say right now:)

I choose classical music by my mood and the composer. The earlier the composer wrote the more peaceful the music. Haydn was born 1732, nice quiet music. All the Bach family were organist and rather somber. They used chords never heard of before. They inspired the Beatles. Russian composers like Wagner, Rachmaninoff, and Rimsky-Korsakov were in the 1800’s, and very emotional. Wagner, with the volume turned up makes for real excitement. Chopin and Liszt are quieter, more thoughtful. Mozart is a man set apart. I’ve read that babies raised with Mozart played in the background are more intelligent than other children.

These opinions are from a person who has never studied music, just loves it.
