I know this is a random topic, but then again, this forum is for "random topics from random people"!
So who here plays Metroid, or any games from the Metroid series for that matter?
I'm having trouble finding people with whom to discuss the game! ^^;

Okayyy... no-one then?
Someone's got to have played at least one Metroid game before! It's so great!

Believe it or not, this isn't the first Metroid post that's come to the surface in this forum. A few months ago saw another post asking this question, and I was the only one that replied in the positive that time, too.

I'm a quasi-Metroid fan. To be honest, the only Metroid game that I've really loved was Super Metroid. But I really did love that one.

I gave up on Metroid Prime when I found out that a neighbor kid had beaten it in a week or so, while I was struggling at around the halfway point. My pride wounded, I bailed out!

I'll be honest: the first Metroid game I ever owned was Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, which I bought because I had been promising myself that I would play a more serious game and break away from the "childish" Mario series. I have started a game of Metroid Prime 2 so many times, but I have never actually beaten it, because it gets too complicated for me at some point or another! =[

I played Metroid Prime on the Gamecube... And finished it! It was really fun to play. And Mario games are cool!

Mario games are almost always great. I don't think they're childish at all. The only Mario series that I simply don't care for is Mario Party, and I loved the first couple of them, back in the day.

Back on the topic of Metroid, the first Metroid game I ever played was the original, back in the late 80's. Got it for my 8th birthday, along with Mega Man 2. It was too difficult back then, and it's even harder now!

SPeaking of difficult old games: Recently I somehow wanted to play "Fortress of Fear" on the old gameboy again. Never finished this game before but after some time I beat it! There is quite a number of old games that were kind of frustrating.

I had to look up Fortress of Fear on Wikipedia, and then realized that it was one of the Wizards & Warriors games. I had a Wizards & Warriors game on the NES, and it was BRUTAL. Your little knight dude controlled terribly, particularly while jumping.

The original NES Metroid is the best overall! The music is the best of all, and it is the first Metroid game that I have actually beaten of course.

I have to share this, for those of you who like Metroid soundtrack music:
www.metroidmetal.com
A band called Stemage made heavy metal covers for all the songs from the NES Metroid soundtrack, and more for every other Metroid game that has been released! Trust me, their covers are awesome, especially Brinstar! XD

I can't deny the music of the original Metroid. I'm particularly fond of the Kraid's Lair theme. Stemage is really cool, but I think my favorite cover of Metroid music is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5JjJ1gNdKM&feature=related . It's actually rather beautiful.

Speaking of Kraid: how come there hasn't been any Kraid in the newer Metroid games? I've always liked Kraid more than Ridley.

Cobblepot: I guess Kraid just went into retirement; he always looked like he was on in years, but that Ridley guy? He was built to last!

Just a couple of days ago I finished MP2: Echoes for the first time. Emporer Ing was a mad fight!
I'm glad I have finally finished it after about 3 years of owning it. Metroid Prime Trilogy, here I come! XD
