How to quit getting emails for the forum threads

This gets asked tons. How do you cancel emails from the forums everytime a post is made?

Step one: Click the control panel link above.
Step two: Click the edit options link on the left hand side.
Step three: On the right hand side find "Default Thread Subscription Mode".
Step four: In the drop down menu choose, "do not subscribe".
Step five: Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and find the button that says 'save changes'.
Step six: Click the button that says save changes.

does that mean.. you will be automatically.. unsubscribed ?? sooo.. you won't be notified if someone replies to the same thread? even in the control panel? cuz when u click the control panel.. you will see the threads with new replies right? :-/
