Sounds rediculous, but I am VERY upset at Bing.com.

I can search up something INNOCENT:

For example, I was searching up the breed of cat, the Savannah.

On Google, it shows up results such as Savannah, Georgia,

But on Bing, pornagraphic videos pop up as results! Why is that!? All I was looking for was a breed of cat, I'm even okay with the fact that Google showed the wrong results!

That's not the only time that's happened...unfortunately, I was speeking scientifically (health concerns) towards someone, and wanted to make sure how to spell Impregnate properly..

do I need to explain what showed up?
Yet on google, Proper results showed up.

Is there ANY way I can report Bing for this? What about the kids? What if They want to search something innocent and something repulsive pops up? This makes me beyond upset - yet we wonder why men aren't as faithful as they used to be. This SUCKS.

Once again, is there anyway I can report this?

Bing.com are doing nothing wrong. It's up to the parents of children to filter the internet and it's up to sensitive individuals, such as yourself, to get over what they've seen and simply not use the site again.

Thanks for the tip, though! <goes to Bing.com>

But it's NOT as if I'm ACTUALLY looking for Porn, it's towards innocent searches that have No sexual meaning (of course, except for the word impregnate..)

It just shocks me how Easy it is to find porn now days with out even Trying to Deliberately search for it. It's a Search Engine - not a Porn website. I shouldn't have to go into "privacy settings" just so a child won't come across something rediculous without even Trying to at All.

Like I said, stop using the website. <shrugs>

You must be new to the internet.

That's why the privacy settings have been provided for you. If you don't use them because you feel that you "shouldn't have to" that's hardly anybody's fault but your own. Your alternatives are to either put up with it or stop using the internet.

Use a different search engine. One with a safe-search filter. Though even those aren't 100% foolproof, the pervy pics will be less likely to pop up in your innocent searches.

But since it is the internet and people use photo tagging, you are going to get some unrelated searches no matter where you go, because you can't control what everyone on the web uses in their photo tags.

What you described is unfortunately normal.

I would not recommend image searching for anything when there is a child in the room, lol.

No, I am NOT new to the internet.

Lets just say for the record that I hate what the world is turning into. And YES I know there's nothing I can do about it. It just sucks i.m.o. That's all.

Why are you using Bing anyway? Bing sucks. It throws in annoying ads everywhere and little popups and widgets that you have to close. Just use Google. They put their ads inconspicuously off to the side and they are way better.

Google seems to hate the people of China, so I don't really like them either. There are other search engines out there though, there's Yahoo!

Just to add, I'm not sure how you're finding all this porn on Bing.com, especially by searching for seemingly "innocent" words.

I've just searched directly for "rape" and I have nothing but news articles, psychology websites, dictionary definitions and even a page dedicated to rapeseed oil, all on the first page.

Edit - I've just done the same with "anus" and "penis". Similar results.

It's not just limited to Google. The Chinese government simply ban anything that promotes expressive freedom. This includes things like Google and Facebook. How exactly do you think Google hates Chinese people? If it's to do with this nonsense about them manipulating the auto-search to Chinese slurs, you've been misled.

Good to know, I thought they were a separate entity.
They were powered by Google for a long time, but they've changed hands a few times. In 2009, they entered into talks with Microsoft and are now in partnership (Microsoft's search engine is Bing).

Nothing at all to do with slurs. Google China - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Google broke their number one rule, don't be evil. Basically, it has taken a scandal for them to announce that they will no longer run a "Commie approved" version of Google. I'll never know why they, with their know-how, didn't instead work to undermine the government's crackdown on information. The most likely answer is money, that usually seems to be it.

As I do more research, I see that Yahoo! has done worse, they actually announced that they would give the Chinese government access to dissident's Y-mail accounts. I don't know if there even is a "cruelty free" search engine.

Interesting stuff! I understand their stance, of course. The Chinese government want them to censor their searches to cooperate with their policies, I'd be loathe to comply. I imagine it would indeed be a costly venture. How would one even go about it? Filter all web pages containing certain words? I don't think that's a feasible solution at all.

Despite the ban, I'm sure everyone in China uses Google and Facebook. I have a friend who's currently over there doing a business placement with his university, a contact there gave him the software to bypass the blocks. It's apparently quite simple.

But yes, I remain on Google's side on this one.

Edit - I've just re-read your post and I completely misunderstood it the first time. I was unaware that they had, at one point, complied with China's restrictions.
