I was just wondering what your favourite christmas carol is.

One that has stuck in my mind other years is the following by Charles Wesley.
I have heard it put to various tunes but those words are just amazing - our GOD contracted to a span and putting aside HIS GLORY - laid His glory by. It just stirs something inside of me to realise God did this for us.

Let earth and heaven combine,
Angels and men agree,
To praise in songs divine
The incarnate Deity,
Our God contracted to a span,
Incomprehensibly made Man.

He laid His glory by,
He wrapped Him in our clay;
Unmarked by human eye,
The latent Godhead lay;
Infant of days He here became,
And bore the mild Immanuel’s Name.

Unsearchable the love
That has the Savior brought;
The grace is far above
Of men or angels’ thought:
Suffice for us that God, we know,
Our God, is manifest below.

He deigns in flesh to appear,
Widest extremes to join;
To bring our vileness near,
And make us all divine:
And we the life of God shall know,
For God is manifest below.

Made perfect first in love,
And sanctified by grace,
We shall from earth remove,
And see His glorious face:
His love shall then be fully showed,
And man shall all be lost in God.

When I was a boy, my mother would sit down at the piano and play “Birthday of a King,” and I would sing. That is a special memory.

Little Drummer Boy

Come, they told me (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
A newborn king to see (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
Our finest gifts we bring (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
To lay before the king (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum) [x3]
So, to honor Him (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
When we come

Little baby (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
I am a poor boy too (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
I have no gifts to bring (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
That's fit to give a king (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum) [x3]
Shall I play for you (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
On my drum?

Mary nodded (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
The ox and lamb kept time (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
I played my drum for Him (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
I played my best for Him (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum) [x3]
Then, He smiled at me (pa-rum-pa-pum-pum)
Me and my drum

O Holy Night
Himlen i min famn (Heaven in my arms)

Chours:

Are you one out of a thousand small ones?
Are you The one they are waiting for?
You, my little child, an angel given name.
Are you the hidden treasure of earth
that I get to protect this night?
Are you heaven itself
rocked in my arms?

I like the part of "What Child Is This" where it goes, "This, this is Christ the King," as if Jesus is being introduced to a crowd of people.

When I was little I used to sing The Twelve days of Christmas but I was never able to fully memorize it. It's a lovely carol and has a nice interpretation to it :).
Silent Night and Angels we heard on High are good ones too.

Nothing beats the classical Christmas Hymns (for me)-

1. Joy to the world
2. Angels we have heard on high
3. Silent Night, holy night
4. Away in a manger, etc, etc.......

Christmas carols bring back so many memories dont they. its good that there is such a wide selection mentioned by folks.

Another one that I like a lot is Mary's Boy Child by Boney M

[Lyrics] - Mary's Boy Child - YouTube

The song is amazing and the words are so good in the bridge towards the end.

We sang it in the church a couple of christmas with all the parts being sung and played. The church just rocked and it was amazing to see the whole
congregation just celebrating God.
