this actually happened

i was attending Bible study and a fellow member would contantly pull out his cell phoñe and start texting ,even while he was standing in the middle of the isle he would pull out his cell phone , this went on for the entire service and it was the most distracting things to see, plus it was very bright , more distracting than his usually ((LOUD)) yelling

what are your opinions on cell phone use in church during service??

It can be distracting when people constantly use them while the service is going on. If you have to make important calls or texts, exist the room politely and use it, otherwise quit fiddling with your phone and concentrate on the sermon. Sheesh...

Unless you are a Dr or a CIA Agent you can live without your phone for an hour.

I get irritated with a lot of cell phone use in general. Facebook can wait. Twitter can wait. Your spiritual life is more important than your networking.

The only reason someone should be using their mobile phone in church, is if they have their Bible and their notes on there. Otherwise, it can wait.

I actually got convicted about this recently haha. I go to a bible study with some older guys, and this 18 year old showed up and I saw him with his phone and automatically got irritated, come to find out he was looking up bible verses to reference. I felt pretty dumb after that.

Many people have phones at my church. To me there is a fine line. First you must consider who your around. Some people are highly distractable. If you're distracting someone, put it away or move. Second, there is something as too much. I try not to do things on my phone that are not necessary or helpful while in church. However, I must admit I catch myself. I have an iPhone and no other computer access. Because I'm always out its become a necessity for travel, safety, and organization meetings. In belong to a church where it's not te ccardinals sin to whisper a question or comment mid service to your neighbor. Therefore, I don't believe sending that same message via text is wrong. It's just how culture has changed. But like I said, there are limits. I wouldn't have a constant conversation.

At my church there happens both good and bad way of phone using. Good way, also mentioned here is for example have bible or bible study material there, the bad example: one old lady have a mobile phone that is set very loud. and someone have habit to call her to that phone during worship service. It would be enough like that but for the lady takes significantly long time to realise that it's her phone that is riging louder than any other sound in the church and slowly opens her handbag and ansvers the phone. Yeah I know she is old and it's good that someone remembers her but still that's irritating to everyone else in the church.

in the church I used to attend, there were some ladies who would wave their arms, sway, really seem to be into worship songs, and then as soon as the songs were over, they sat down and started texting. made their worship seem totally fake.

It seems to me his cell was more important than God's word which makes the phone a "god" itself. " Thou shall have no other gods before Me. He was worshiping the phone in the House of the Lord.

There is a volume control on the phone and a vibrate setting if you must have it on period.
