Yes. And i keep on reading even if i finished the whole thing. I go back again to genesis, read a few verses, then go to my devotional books.

Yup I have. Doing it again with a different version. I'm collecting different versions and reading through them along with other kinds of ways to study. Working on an Apologetics Bible right now that shows you how to defend your faith. My favorites are Ephesians and Romans and the Corinthians because of the life lessons in them. And then I love Geneses because of all the adventure. Psalms when I'm down, to lift me up. And Ruth and other stories of strong women in the Bible as examples and encouragements when I feel so small.

I've read the whole bible start to finish.

I don't think it was a good idea.

Alot of time is spent reading long books like Kings, Chronicles, etc. when these books aren't as insightful as the new testament. I think reading the whole old testament is not necessary.

For me, the whole old testament is about as useful as 3 or 4 books in the new testament.

uuuuuuuh what?

How have I told God what He should not have done? I have no idea how you got that from what I posted. I never said the old testament was useless, but you read 2 Kings then read Romans and tell me which one you got most out of.

I agree some books in the OT have little contemporary information in comparison to the NT, but I wouldn't ever say it's not necessary to read them.

I've found that if you read books like the Kings and Leviticus just because you should, you don't get much out of it at all. But when you read them because you want to hear something from God, knowing that He kept them in the Bible for a reason, you get so much more. The OT backs up the NT. It helps explain why they did some thing or said some things in the NT. And I'm talking about every book in the OT does this, even Leviticus, of which is most difficult for me to get through. The Kings were my favorites of the "boring" collection. SOOOO much information packed in those books and still it leaves out so much.

I challenge anyone to read the "boring" books with a different perspective. You don't know what kind of blessings you're missing.

I understand, I battle it too. I was told reciently that if you read the bible out loud to your self it is absorbed easyer and remembered better. I have been doing this and have found it to work. I also have cognitive dislexia and reading out loud to myself has helped this too. Worth a try. I have read most of the Bible over the years, in small amounts untill reciently. My faves are Gen. John all his books, he rights like I think. Then psalms, the voice of my heart. Songs, and am now reading the new testiment through. For the first time I am able to read it and not lose focas, I am seeing Jesus even more than before and it is a joy. Reading aloud to ones self does work. Godbless, pickles
