I'm new to the news on this church but I'm sure many of you on here know who they are...
I keep looking at these YouTube videos of them promoting hate and I can't help but feel a little angry at their disposition. I wish I wouldn't get angry but I'm not understanding something here... And all I'm thinking is 'if I faced them tomorrow at a corner picketing hatred. What would I do, what would I say?' I keep running this through my head.
I'd hate to ever be a sugar coater but this is out of line and where is our line? Sorry, my mind is just wandering but this is sad. They give Christians a bad name.

As Christians we also have a duty to defend what is right and just. We know God is love, we know he is merciful but He is also Holy & Almighty. Sin is sin and God is God.

My question is , in this situation what would you do ? What would you say? And as Christians where is our line to how we address the unsaved? Will we be the bible thumpers on a strict pursuit of not sugar coating a thing?! Or will we be loving and patient?

I recon being honest is the most important thing. Tell people the absolute truth with no sugar coating then if they make the right / wrong choise it is completley up to them. If that gets you in trouble I think your doing your job as a christian. I sometimes think I am too patient with my friends trying to help them learn the truth but I dont want to push them away. DILEMAAAAAA :(

Yes I know exactly where you're coming from cause I've struggled with the same thing over and over again. With family and friends. One in particular though.... A homosexual friend. In the end God confronted me and drew a line before me of his sin but More than enabling me to see the truth God so wanted me to tell him he loved him. So i told him both.

Overall I think it should take alot of patients because we want them to hear truth but also know Gods love. Nothing should ever done by force though or with hate

If i ran into a Westboro-ite i would probably do nothing. These people are more like a cult than anything, and many times cults members are brainwashed and it would take more than trying to put things in context in the bible to get them to understand.

Totally agree! they want to argue, to divide, which is not of God. We are also told not to argue over the Word. They will not listen but they do do one good thing...they provide a platform for us to share what being a true follower of Christ looks like! so not all negative. God will turn everything into good, for those who love Him!! :) <><

I don't think that would work, no matter how forceful your rhetoric was. With respect, you are no match for the demons that control these people. I'm not, either.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

I said i wouldn't say anything to them because it likely would have no effect, so what 'forceful rhetoric' are you talking about?

Here's what I've been thinking while reading all the replies. Jesus commandment is to love one another, love our enemies. So, look at the bibles definition of love "love is patient, love is kind...etc." (sorry, I'm not sure of the exact reference, I think it's in corinthians). When it comes to people who don't know the Lord, I tend to have a lot of grace. Remember they are only human. We are no less sinners than they are, the only difference is that we know we are, and they are convinced they're not. In order for them to believe they're not sinners, they have to be deceived on a daily basis and to me, that is heart breaking. Again, the answer is to always respond in love, and keep in prayer for them, different things speak to different people in different ways, there is no one single formula outside of our prayers that God will reveal Himself to them in some way, be it by us, or someone else. Be it by a firm or gentle hand.

Anyone who desires to travel all the way up to Canada to protest at 22 year old guys funeral after he was beheaded on a bus by a schizophrenic man, all because of they believe that God let this guy get killed in such a horrific manor because Canada's legislation regarding the freedom of gay people, will be judged by God Himself for the hate that they spread. I wouldn't be able to be around one of them without getting enraged.

I agree with you 100% to persue them with love. The carnal side was arising for a moment there. But it's also always easier said then done.

Also agree it sad cause they obviously are skipping this scripture.
“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Matthew 26:52

Bless your enemies and pray for them.
Jesus asked us to do this, any angry responce would only fullfll their belief of persicution.
I just saw an interview of this church today, heartbreaking in every way.
Saddly an example of how fear and false teachings can bring so much destruction.
The part that broke my heart the most, were the children.

God bless

We are to speak the Truth in LOVE not hate. We are to have compassion on all because we have all sinned. I have to say I feel uneay about Westboro. The Phelps family rejected their own child. God doesn't do that. ISAIAH 49:14-16. I don't want to sound judging but I feel angry and sad when I read of psychological abuse in families especially if it is done in Gods name

I think Westboro is a classic example of what happens when we choose religion over God.

Yes! And when we choose religion over God, we let Satan in through the front door with a red carpet rolled out under him.
