Suppose you want to travel in a certain direction, by mistake you take the opposite direction. Once you realize you take the wrong direction, you have to stop and return. If you keep on going, the farther you go, the harder it will be for you to return. Similarly, when things go wrong in our lives, the first thing we need to do is stop, listen and wait for God's direction. If we try to make corrections by our own strength and wisdom, we are liable to make more mistakes. If things go wrong in your life, stop, think, listen and return to God. Don't try to do anything, just wait for the Lord untill you become calm, cool, meditative and organized.

I second that, Brian.
And..

Sometimes Satan likes to kick us when we're down.

You're strong, Christine, you can make it. God will lead you through.

Rissa, I agree with you about Satan and I want to add this. If you read Psalm No 125, verse 2, it says, "As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore". That means we are encircled by God, the protecting walls of God surround us. Why? Psalm 125:3 says, "The sceptre of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, for then the righteous might use their hands to do evil." This Psalm clearly tells us that unless God permits, Satan cannot do anything in our lives. If Satan kicks us, it is because God gave him the permission. The story of Job clearly reflects the truths about this. It was Satan's fondest desire to do harm to Job and take his life if possible. But he cannot do anything unless God gave him the permission. He did what he did to Job only in accordance with the permission he received from God.

You reminded me of one of my favorite Psalm passages.
Christine, you'll love this one.

"A man's steps are established by the Lord, and He takes pleasure in his way. Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, because the Lord holds his hand."
Psalm 37:23,24

And since we're adding onto each others posts... ^_^

Yes Satan can only do what he is allowed to do. But God uses all for good. (Gen 50:20 - But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.)

And of course... Jeremiah 29:11 (Christine, I will nag you until you memorize this!! lol You believe it too cuz I have my sources to nag you WHILE I'm off at school.. muahaha) For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

You already have a testimony. God's gonna help get you out of the slump and finish it for you. Don't lose hope. He holds your hand.

And better yet... He will carry you too. Remember the poem Footprints in the Sand? http://www.footprints-inthe-sand.com/index.php?page=Poem/Poem.php

Love you, dear!

You are most welcome, Christine!
Have you ever thought that when things go as we wish, we tend to think that things are going well. But when things go against our wish, we tend to think that things are going wrong. That means,we judge whether things are going wrong or right by our yardstick. Joseph might have thought things were going wrong when his brothers sold him to Egypt to become a slave. He might have thought things were going wrong when he was imprisoned when Potipher's wife accused him falsely on the charge of attempt of rape. Only at the final analysis, did he realize that nothing went wrong, God was behind the scene throughout his life working out his plan for him. Right now, you may think things are going wrong for you, but wait and you may see that everything that happens in your life are just the strategy of God to work out his plan for your life.
