Hello! I was wondering out there if there are any people out there that have gotten either a degree as a social worker or in any human services branch - in their occupation.
I feel God may be directing me to it, but I'm not entirely sure yet.
What is it like for you, and how did you know?

Hey blueorchidjd,

That's awesome that you feel directed to do something philanthropic! Even if you don't pursue a degree as a social worker, I respect the fact that you have a heart for helping people.

You probably already have a fair idea of prerequisites, expectations/duties, salary, etc., but since I don't have any personal experience to offer advice, hopefully this is worth something to you: Social Workers : Occupational Outlook Handbook : U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

IMO, social work is a very honorable and much needed profession. There are so many people who cannot speak for themselves and need advocates. Many times, however, social workers have very heavy caseloads and many responsibilities. It is not a discouragement, just a reality. Social workers are needed for private, public and religious organizations, so at least in large cities and metro areas, there are many options for work. If you feel led to help those who need assistance, Go for it!
