I don't care for watching music videos but I do get a real kick out of Wierd Al Yankovick. I also loved that movie UHF. To this day even though it is a older movie made back in the 80's my grandkids love it and think it is so funny. It did not do well at the box office because they should have released it at a better date when it did not have to compete with other big box office hits. It has become a cult classic and was released on DVD and made the top ten DVD hits. I watched an updated biography of him last night and it is really nice that he finally found his soul mate. He is actually a very shy person.

I haven't seen UHF in years, but I adored it when I was a kid. The Beverly Hillbillies/Money For Nothing video is reason enough for ANYONE to see it.

I have an intense, burning admiration for people that play the accordion, or basically anyone that plays a nontraditional musical instrument. *A lot* of people play instruments like the guitar for recognition, but if someone decides to play the accordion, they're doing it simply for the love of art. Of because their parents made them. Either way, they're cool.

Being a fan of the accordion, I'm also into They Might Be Giants.

I can also see by your picture that you liked Mystery theatre. I loved to watch that too and laugh at how they dubbed in all kinds of silly script. Galaxy Quest is another funny favorite of mine and I just have forgotten the same of the martial arts film that was over dubbed into a comedy. The pretty Chinese gal in it, they gave her a voice like Miss Piggy and the leader of the bad guys wanted to be called "Betty".

I have been a Weird Al fan since I was a kid. "Eat It" and "Fat" are my top two favorites, mainly because I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan as well. And yes, UHF is a great movie!

Have you ever seen What's Up, Tiger Lily? It's the only good Woody Allen movie, so far as I'm concerned. I ask, because it was the first instance of someone dubbing over a movie with funny dialogue.

Anybody who likes Weird Al has to be cool, even you! I really like the Amish Paradise too. His version of "The lion sleeps tonight" was pretty wild too.

By the way, I forgot to ask, what is a bodhran? What does it look like?

aww, thanks Jezreel.
a bodhran is the hand held irish drum. just looks like a drum, held on the lap usually, played with one stick.

What a coincidence. I play drums too. I am not that good as my husband and son, but at least I can do good enough that I helped teach my son when he was little and my grandson Elijah.

the main differences are that with bodhran you use just one stick but usually use both ends by swinging it a special way, to get rolls and stuff. and your other hand is inside the drum pressed against the skin and by moving it up and down you can change the pitch of the drum. its tricky.

I looked up pictures of a bodhran on the internet. It is really amazing how drums have evolved into what we have today. The bodhran reminds me of the snare drum. We used to fellowship years ago with people who all played the drums together in one room and used small drums like that and American Indian type drums. It was really fun. All drums and no other instuments at that time.
