This may sounds dumb, but is underaged drinking sinful? I know it is illegal, but is it against God?

If it's within the privacy of your own home and you have responsible parents and you only have a little, I don't see the issue. I grew up taking Holy Communion from 10 years old and having a little beer or wine later in my teens. I'm almost 30 and I've never become drunk or even tipsy. A few drinks does it for me. I much prefer food, so there's no danger. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone but it's certainly possible to drink responsibly underage and for it not to be sinful.

We are to obey the law of the land
And submit to authority. If you're underage and drinking then you aren't obeying the law or God.

But in the world's understanding of 'underage drinking', no, I think it's sinful.

Its not actually illegal to drink underage if your parent hands it to you... but personally im not for drinking at all i dont see where any good can come from it so i dont see the point in it.

So if a cop see's a 15 year old walking around with a beer, all the kid has to say is 'my parents gave it to me' and it's magically legal? That makes no sense. I would love to see the evidence of this.
Wouldn't that be contributing to the delinquency of a minor? When i worked in a liquor store if you were under age, you weren't even allowed to put the alcohol on the counter for your parents. If you helped your parent carry it, you had to hand it to the parent to put on the counter, otherwise it was illegal to sell it. So if they aren't even allowed to put it on the counter for their parents, legally, how is it legal to let underage kids drink? Its called 'under age' for a reason. They are 'under the age' to drink legally.

Chonbon,

There are 2 main parts to your question -
one is age, the other is drinking.

We generally have age limits on things which we don't think young people can handle responsibly. This is reasonable. Most of us don't want to turn a 10-year-old loose with an assault rifle, a driver's license, alcohol, etc.

As far as alcohol goes, there are a lot of verses about it in the bible, and there is some study you could do. Good decent Christians do have disagreements about it, but there are still a lot of verses that are pretty clear to everyone. It says pretty clearly not to get drunk and loose control of yourself. I think that is pretty well understood and indisputable. In general, if you have questions about alcohol, this would be a good time to start studying all the verses in the bible on the subject, and see what it says.

God Bless
Max

Our body is the temple of God. Drinking is not different than doing drugs, underage or not it's still sinful imo.

I suppose Ugly still has me on ignore and won't see this, but maybe someone will read it to him.

State of Virginia:
Underage Drinking: Underage Consumption of Alcohol

Consumption is prohibited WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTION(S):

 • private residence
 • AND EITHER parent/guardian OR spouse

It is legal for parents to let their own children drink in their own home in many states. Not buy liquor from liquor stores.

And to the O.P: "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;" If your parents okay you drinking a glass of wine with dinner, that is one thing. But getting drunk is not allowed. Also, we are to take no 'strong drink' (distilled beverages, such as whiskey or bourbon). I hope this helps! :)

In other words the majority of states prohibit underage drinking even if its under parental supervision.

When I was younger drinking got me into a lot of trouble. It will cause bad judgement, believe me I know. Even if its not sin it can cause you to sin. Even if a particular person can handle drinking, your example may cause someone else to think drinking is ok. What if that person cant handle it like you, but you set the example they followed? Did your witness cause them to sin even though you didnt sin?

And none of this means it is acceptable to God.

I agree with you. One beer or a glass of red wine has been proven to be beneficial to your health. I'm ok with that.
I found out whiskey is the best cough medicine you can buy, but if it comes to parents buying alcohol for recreational purposes I do have a problem with that.
