NEW NAR “BIBLE” A DANGEROUS HERESY cont.

More spiritual manipulation

Simmons says our standard translations of the Bible, transcribed by hundreds of scholars from the original scrolls, are just head knowledge and don’t adequately capture God’s passion. (He apparently missed the part in 2 Timothy 3:16 that says that every word is breathed-out by the Holy Spirit.) From his website:

The Passion Translation Project is a groundbreaking attempt to re-introduce the passion and fire of the Bible to the English reader. God longs to have His Word expressed in every language in a way that would unlock the ‘passion’ of His heart. The goal of this work is to trigger inside of every English speaker an overwhelming response to the truth of the Bible as it is unfiltered by religious jargon – unfolding the deep mysteries of the Scriptures in the language of love, the language of the heart. Accurate to the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts, but passionately powerful in a contemporary form.

Holly Pivec over at Spirit of Error blog points out that Simmons is manipulating Scriptures to make it appear that heretical NAR teachings and practices such as “prophetic singing,” the “transference of an anointing,” and the issuing of “apostolic decrees,” are actually supported by the Bible – which of course is false. But to the biblically illiterate, it will sound so right:

This translation is potentially one of the most disturbing developments in the NAR movement. Simmons is following in the footsteps of the major cults of Christianity who have released their own translations of the Bible, including the New World Translation used by the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Joseph Smith Translation used by some groups of Mormons.

By creating a new NAR translation of the Bible, Simmons is shaping the way a generation of NAR followers will read and understand Scripture–and also creating a divide between those who use the NAR translation and those who don’t.

It remains to be seen how many NAR people will make the switch to this NAR translation of the Bible. If a lot of them do switch Bibles, then The Passion Translation could truly–as its advertisements say–”impact the Church for years to come.”

Simmons says "God longs to have His Word expressed in every language in a way that would unlock the ‘passion’ of His heart."

how does Simmons know what God "longs for"?

God told him, i guess.

"Hey, uh..Brian...I long to express my Word in a way that would unlock the passion of My heart...can you help me out here?

Charismatics believe that the modern-day church is experiencing a resurgence of the miracles and wonders seen in the early days of Christianity, as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles. However, the Bible evidence is that in the post-Apostolic era it is false prophets who will perform wonders.
Jesus is clear that many will prophesy, cast out demons, and do other works in His name, but that these people are not of His flock (Matthew 7:22-23).
Jesus says elsewhere: “For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect” (Matthew 24:24, ESV throughout).
Even more disturbing is 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12:
The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
The second beast of Revelation also deceives people through “the signs that it is allowed to work” (Revelation 13:14), and even the beast’s false prophet “had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast” (Revelation 19:20).
However, there is no biblical evidence whatsoever to support the Charismatic doctrine that believers in the post-Apostolic era can work miracles or manifest the sign gifts associated with the Apostolic age.
Other than false prophets, the only biblical evidence of signs and wonders after the Apostolic age is the record of the Two Witnesses of Revelation 11. While their identity must remain in the area of speculation, it is quite clear from the passage that these servants of God are exceptional.
No documented evidence of miracles in the Charismatic churches
Now, lest anyone accuse me of saying that Satan is performing wonders in the Charismatic movement, let me state clearly that no miracle has ever been documented in any Charismatic church (and most of what happens is mislabelled).
Yes, urban legends abound about withered limbs instantly being repaired, people rising from the dead, and so on, but the absence of such events in medical journals and other reputable publications, even the TV news, is testament to the lack of verifiable evidence. Yet the urban legends would have us believe such events are so commonplace they hardly merit mention anymore.
Those who chase after signs and wonders, beware. Jesus says, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah,” (Matthew 12:39). When you add to this the biblical evidence that the signs and wonders performed after the Apostolic age are those of false prophets, you want to stay well clear.

Charismatic Ecumenism

Posted on August 2, 2013
Earlier this week I was tangled up in the comments of this article with a nest of charismatics who swarmed to defend Michael Brown’s response to my GTY blog article. I have to confess that I left my encounter with my heart a bit despondent. I am beginning to realize more and more how charismatic theology devastates folks’ ability for discernment.

The basics of my exchange with Dr. Brown are simple:
John MacArthur has charged the charismatic movement of blaspheming the Holy Spirit by their bizarre antics, horrendous teaching, and false prophecies. The reality of that blasphemy has weighed heavy on the heart of John his entire ministry career. The things charismatics do in the name of God are similar to the “strange fire” Nadab and Abihu offered to God as recorded in Leviticus 10:1-7, and who were subsequently killed directly by God for their inappropriate worship. John felt the need to have a major theological conference addressing and refuting charismatic theology that inevitably leads to such instances of “strange fire” among charismatic churches and the Christian church at large.

Hence the name of the upcoming GTY conference on the subject, Strange Fire.
Michael Brown, on the other hand, believes John is terribly mistaken to take up such strong words as “blasphemy” to describe his fellow charismatics. He wrote up a couple of posts challenging John’s assertions even suggesting he is in danger of blasphemy himself because John broad brushes ALL charismatics as being involved in bizarre antics, horrendous teaching, and false prophecies.Dr. Brown further claims that where the work of the Spirit is, there will be excesses that may need to be corrected, and points to the so-called “excesses” recorded about the first Great Awakening under Jonathan Edwards and George Whitfield. John MacArthur is like those critics of the Great Awakening, who saw the “excesses” taking place during the preaching of those two great evangelists as “blasphemy.” John is guilty of quenching the Spirit and like the pharisees during Christ’s day, calling the clear work of God a work of Satan. After Dr. Brown published those two articles against John, of course a number of supporters wanted our “official” response to him, so I was tasked to write it up. My approach was straightforward:

I wanted to illustrate what John MacArthur means by “blasphemy.” Using the very individuals Dr. Brown claims are “fine godly leaders” I demonstrated from their own teaching ministries that they “blaspheme” in the exact way John describes. They promote false prophecies and errant theological teaching and engage in bizarre antics.
So. Rather than responding to the clear examples I put forth, what does Dr. Brown do? He blows past them and says this whole debate has to do with whether or not continuationism is biblical or cessationism is biblical and we need to meet for a face-to-face to discuss. No response to whether or not Bickle and Engle are false prophets because they “prophesied” falsely (something Bickle himself claims in this video).

No response as to whether or not Cindy Jacobs is a liar on the magnitude of Ergun Caner when she claimed to have fed 3,000 people at a Colorado Springs crusade. Not a word.
The only response I did receive from Dr. Brown is his reiterated claim that he speaks out against the bad stuff that pops up among charismatic circles every once in a while. He even tweeted out a link to an article he wrote decrying the inappropriateness of sexy celebrity preacher women who speak in tongues.Really?I’ll be the first to shout “amen!” to Dr. Brown’s rebuke against sexy, tongue-speaking lingerie models, but let’s take it a step further: Are those people even Christians? Do they represent biblical Christianity? That is the line of demarcation between myself and Dr. Brown: He willingly affirms, either with verbal affirmation or a silent non-response, individuals that I would say are not even Christians and promote a false, soul-damning gospel, let alone genuinely “manifest” the gifts of the Spirit. In fact, that is what discouraged me about the entire exchange I had with all the charismatic folks in the comments of Dr. Brown’s article responding to my GTY article. No one was willing to recognize genuine false prophets and charlatans in their midst and call them what they truly are, wolves among sheep.

Instead I was rebuffed for being critical and cutting with my words and having a loathsome tone with how I interacted with people. What I really needed to do is step away from the computer and examine my heart rather than call people false teachers and so forth.
Unbelievable.Meanwhile, as I am being chased about by those fingerwaggers, a sidebar ad was running on the very same site promoting a conference featuring T.D. Jakes, Creflo Dollar, and Joel Osteen. Seriously. If you recall, two of those individuals are anti-trinitarian, which means they don’t even confirm the orthodox, historic Christian faith.Honestly. What is “Christian” and “biblical” about the Health-N-Wealth gospel that imagines God as a fertility cult deity who lavishes prosperity upon followers who willingly please him in some prescribed fashion, typically the giving of large sums of money to the self-appointed “priest” who speaks for the deity. Now Dr. Brown, along with other charismatics, affirm our criticism of Health-N-Wealth prosperity gospel peddlers.

To compare all charismatic activity to the things those individuals promote is unfair and off the mark.
However, Dr. Brown specifically defends his involvement with the Brownsville revival that took place in the mid-90s as proof of the genuine manifestation of the Holy Spirit among God’s people. He challenges John MacArthur’s criticisms of the revival with his first-hand testimony saying that the Holy Spirit was present calling people to Christ and so forth. But take a look at this video. Fast-forward to the 1hr. 13min. mark when this guy from Russia starts talking. Behind him stands these people, a few women in particular, who convulse and gyrate as if they are bewitched. One woman looks as if she has been gripped by a seizure and needs medical attention. How exactly is that a genuine “move” by the Spirit?Take a look at this video. Around the 6min. mark, people begin getting “slain” in the spirit. How is what I see here even remotely related to biblical Christianity? Listen to the evangelist talking and around the 7min. mark he begins going “bah, bah, bah, bah, bah” which I take it to mean he is “speaking in tongues.” For the sake of argument, let’s say the gift of tongues has not ceased and continues to manifest among Christians today. Is this an instance of biblical tongues? I can confidently say that he was NOT speaking with the gift of tongues, but was merely babbling nonsense. Though this guy’s fake tongues appears frivolous, that is the serious blasphemy that John has spoken about. It’s attributing the work of the Spirit to foolishness.

If that is not blasphemy, what is?
What really troubles me is this confusing spirit of ecumenism winding itself through charismatic groups. As long as the person or persons name Jesus, can provide emotional stirring events, and draws large crowds, its all “of the Lord” and no one is to judge. We are to all get along without question.

But that is a disastrous spirit to entertain in our churches.
Dr. Brown says we need to talk and not fight, but I believe the talk has been long over. We need to fight; he needs to fight. Our disagreement goes beyond an open discussion of continuationism vs. cessationism. There are vicious and cruel spiritual wolves at work in the midst of charismatic circles masquerading as spirit filled leaders that no one there wishes to confront and throw out. Why is that? When I confront them in that article, or John does in his teaching, we’re branded haters. Everyone else turns a dismissive, blind eye toward them in the name of a phony tolerance and the “love” of the brethren. This cannot be. There are souls at stake here, and charismatic folks don’t seem to see that imminent danger in their own ranks and that worries me.

Did Jesus give up His divine powers?
Posted By Holly On May 29, 2012 @ 6:51 pm In Bill Johnson/Bethel Church,C. Peter Wagner,Charisma Magazine,Jack Deere,Twisted Scriptures | 6 Comments
Perhaps you’ve heard a new teaching about Jesus from today’s so-called apostles and prophets. According to this teaching, when Jesus was on earth–though He was fully God—He voluntarily gave up the use of His divine powers and did all His miracles as a mere human being through the power of the Holy Spirit. The implication of this teaching is that there was nothing unique about Jesus’ ability to do miracles. Rather, He served as a pattern for all his followers to do miracles as He did.
In other words, you and I–in our day-to-day Christian lives–should be calming storms, healing the sick and raising the dead.
[SUP][1][/SUP]Charisma magazine, March 2012

The teaching that Jesus temporarily gave up His divine powers was promoted recently in Charisma magazine. In the March cover article article, titled “You’ve Got the Power! [SUP][2][/SUP]“, Bill Johnson, the senior pastor of Bethel Church in Redding, California [SUP][3][/SUP], wrote:
“While Jesus is eternally God, He emptied Himself of His divinity and became a man (see Phil. 2:7). It’s vital to note that He did all His miracles as a man, not as God.”
Other influential promoters of this teaching include C. Peter Wagner (former professor at Fuller Theological Seminary and presiding apostle emeritus of the International Coalition of Apostles [SUP][4][/SUP]) and Jack Deere (former professor at Dallas Theological Seminary and founder of Wellspring Church [SUP][5][/SUP] in North Richland Hills, Texas).
C. Peter Wagner explained the teaching in his 2008 book titled Dominion!:
“Reread the gospels in light of this [that is, in light of Jesus’ temptations by Satan], and you will see that all of Jesus’ mighty works—His miracles, His signs and wonders, His prophecies, His deliverance ministry and the rest—can be explained adequately by the supernatural working of the power of the Holy Spirit through Jesus as a human being. … This should dissipate any doubts as to how Jesus could tell us, as mere human beings, that we would do the same works He did and even greater works. The same Holy Spirit who did miracles through Jesus is available to do them through us today.”
Similarly, Jack Deere wrote:
“Thus the Old Testament prophets, Jesus himself, and his apostles all attribute the divine power in his [Jesus’] ministry not to the uniqueness of his deity, but rather to the ministry of the Holy Spirit through him.” (Surprised by the Voice of God, page 45).
The teaching that Jesus temporarily gave up His divine powers has a number of problems, which I plan to address in upcoming posts. In this post, I will address one of those problems. But, first, I must be clear: I am not addressing the issue of whether miracles occur today. What I’m addressing here is a very specific claim– that is, the claim that Jesus gave up His divine powers when he came to earth.
This claim is based, in large part, on a misreading of Philippians 2:7. This verse—according to some translations of the Bible such as the New American Standard Bible—says that Jesus “emptied Himself.” What did Jesus empty himself of? A mistaken assumption is that He “emptied” himself of his divine attributes or at least the use of them. Recall that this is how Johnson interpreted this verse in the Charisma article cited above, stating that Jesus “emptied Himself of His divinity.”
But Philippians does not teach that Jesus emptied himself of his divinity or any of his divine attributes. Rather it teaches that he gave up His divine status and privileges to be born and suffer as a human. As commentator Sean M. McDonough says:
“Greek kenoō can mean “empty, pour out” or also (metaphorically) “give up status and privilege.” Does this mean that Christ temporarily relinquished his divine attributes during his earthly ministry? This theory of Christ’s kenosis or “self-emptying” is not in accord with the context of Philippians or with early Christian theology. Paul is not saying that Christ became less than God or “gave up” some divine attributes; he is not even commenting directly on the question of whether Jesus was fully omnipotent or omniscient during his time on earth. Nor is he saying that Christ ever gave up being “in the form of God.” Rather, Paul is stressing that Christ, who had all the privileges that were rightly his as king of the universe, gave them up to become an ordinary Jewish baby bound for the cross. Christ “made himself nothing” by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men (roughly equivalent phrases). While he had every right to stay comfortably where he was, in a position of power, his love drove him to a position of weakness for the sake of sinful mankind (cf. 2 Cor. 8:9, “though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich”). The “emptying” consisted of his becoming human, not of his giving up any part of his true deity.” [see McDonough's commentary on Philippians 2:7 in the notes of the ESV Study Bible (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2008), 2283]
Thus, the true meaning of Philippians 2:7 is better captured in the translation given by the English Standard Version. Rather than “emptied Himself,” it says that Christ “made himself nothing.”
So, this verse cannot be properly used to support the teaching that Jesus gave up His divine powers and did all his miracles as a mere human being.

Kenneth Hagin was a Word of Faith preacher. He claimed to be a prophet called by God Himself. Kenneth believed in the following beliefs: Christians are little gods. Jesus didn't pay for our sins on the cross and he had to finish the job of atonement in hell. If Christians are not healthy and wealthy it is because of their lack of faith or knowledge. Christians have control over their lives by the words that they speak. If they speak sickness and poverty they will be sick and broke. Therefore, if a Christian speaks blessings and healing they will be healthy and have wealth.
It is a lot easier to justify my belief that Kenneth Hagin was a false prophet by letting his own words speak for themselves. Let's see what Kenneth had to say.
"Some of these Christians tried to tell me, 'Well, now maybe God didn't do it. But now He permitted it and He's got some purpose in all of that.' I said, 'If you're that kind of God--Me a little innocent baby--If you're that kind of God I'd rather go to Hell than to be with you! And I meant every word of it! And I still mean it!"
(Ken Hagin, "You Can Have What You Say," Tape from his ministry) Here we find Kenneth speaking about being born with a deformed heart and being sick when he was young. He is saying that if God would allow a Christian to be sick then he would rather go to Hell than to be a God of that kind.

"He [Jesus] tasted spiritual death for every man. And His spirit and inner men went to hell in my place. Can't you see that? Physical death wouldn't remove your sins. He's tasted death for every man. He's talking about tasting spiritual death." (Ken Hagin, "How Jesus Obtained His Name.")

"The trouble with us is that we've preached a 'cross' religion, and we need to preach a 'throne' religion. By that I mean that people have thought they were supposed to remain at the cross. Some have received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, have backed up to the cross, and have stayed there ever since...The cross is actually a place of defeat, whereas the Resurrection is a place of triumph. When you preach the cross, you're preaching death, and you leave people in death." (Ken Hagin, "The Believer's Authority," page 16. Second Edition 1986)

"Originally, God made the earth and the fullness thereof, giving Adam dominion over all the works of His hands. In other words, Adam was the god of this world. Adam committed high treason and sold out to Satan, and Satan, through Adam, became the god of this world...Now Satan has a right to be here and be god of this world until 'Adam's lease' runs out."
(Ken Hagin, "The Believer's Authority," page 19. Second Edition 1986)

"The Lord said to me, 'If I give you a message for an individual, a church, or a pastor and they don't accept it, you will not be responsible. They will be responsible. There will be ministers who don't accept it and will fall dead in the pulpit."
(Ken Hagin, "I Believe," page 114-115.

"I say this with reluctance but this actually happened in one place where I preached. Two weeks from the day that I closed the meeting, the pastor fell dead in the pulpit. When I left that church crying. I told the pastor in the next church where I went to hold a meeting, 'that man fell dead in the pulpit.' And just a very short time after that he did. Why? Because he didn't accept the message that God gave me to give him from the Holy Spirit."
(Ken Hagin, "I Believe," page 115
"Sometimes in my meetings the glory cloud will come as I am about to minister to people in a healing line. The first time that happened I was holding a meeting for Brother Gordon Lindsay in the 1960's. I had laid hands on about half of the people in the healing line. Then I saw the glory cloud rolling into the building. I walked back to the pulpit because I knew in that instance if I stood in that cloud, I would fall under the power of the Holy Spirit along with the rest of the people. The cloud came floating over the heads of the congregation. Meanwhile, the people in the healing line all had their eyes closed and were worshipping God. They weren't watching me. I waited until the cloud was right above the people in the healing line, and then I waved my hand. When I did that, every person in the healing line fell down like dominoes under the power of the Spirit."
(Ken Hagin, "The Glory of God," Article C-Faith)

"The believer is as much an incarnation as was Jesus of Nazareth."
(Kenneth E. Hagin, "The Incarnation," The Word of Faith page 13, December 12, 1980
Kenneth Hagin has some really unbelievable beliefs doesn't he. Yet, he has been followed by dozens of men who continue on. Men who have followed in Kenneth Hagin's footsteps are Kenneth Hagin Jr., Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn, Rodney Howard-Browne, Creflo Dollar and many more.
We pray that this article has been of help to you.
Blessings,
Rev.Wise

One of the trademarks of Pentecostalism is that women usurp their God ordained place of submission in the church! Pentecostalism: The only religion often founded by women who usurp their place! Dominated by emotionalism!
Teaching or exercising authority over a man in the church. This includes pulpit preaching and administration.
1 Tim 2:12 But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. 13 For it was Adam who was first created, andthen Eve. 14 And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being quite deceived, fell into transgression. 15 But women shall be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.
Being a pastor/elder/overseer. 1 Tim 3 and Titus 1 explicitly identify that pastors MUST BE MEN.
1 Timothy 3:1 It is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do. 2 An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not addicted to wine or pugnacious, but gentle, uncontentious, free from the love of money. 4 He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity 5 (but if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of the church of God?); 6 and not a new convert, lest he become conceited and fall into the condemnation incurred by the devil. 7 And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he may not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
Notice that the prohibition against women teaching or exercising authority over men in the church is IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY THE CLEAR STATEMENT THAT ONLY MEN CAN BE OVERSEERS/PASTORS! One continuous text!
Miram ~ 1500 BC
Notice that Miram usurped her place by claiming to be equal with Moses! Yes Aaron was also involved, but he was following the lead of Miram who was made a leper. Aaron was not made a leper, proving she was the instigator! (Aaron was easily swayed by the people when the people made the golden calf, “the people made me do it”)
Numbers 12:1 Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married (for he had married a Cushite woman); 2 and they said, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us as well?” And the Lord heard it. 3 (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth.) 4 And suddenly the Lord said to Moses and Aaron and to Miriam, “You three come out to the tent of meeting.” So the three of them came out. 5 Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the doorway of the tent, and He called Aaron and Miriam. When they had both come forward, 6 He said,
“Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, shall make Myself known to him in a vision. I shall speak with him in a dream.
7 “Not so, with My servant Moses, He is faithful in all My household; 8 With him I speak mouth to mouth, Even openly, and not in dark sayings, And he beholds the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant, against Moses?”
9 So the anger of the Lord burned against them and He departed. 10 But when the cloud had withdrawn from over the tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, as white assnow. As Aaron turned toward Miriam, behold, she was leprous. 11 Then Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord, I beg you, do not account this sin to us, in which we have acted foolishly and in which we have sinned. 12 “Oh, do not let her be like one dead, whose flesh is half eaten away when he comes from his mother’s womb!” 13 And Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “O God, heal her, I pray!” 14 But the Lord said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not bear her shame for seven days? Let her be shut up for seven days outside the camp, and afterward she may be received again.” 15 So Miriam was shut up outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on until Miriam was received again.
Montanus ~ 150 AD
Hippolytus wrote of the Montanists, “They have been deceived by two females, Priscilla and Maximilla by name, whom they hold to be prophetesses, asserting that into them the Paraclete spirit entered…. They magnify these females above the Apostles and every gift of Grace, so that some of them go so far as to say that in them there is something more than Christ…. They introduce novelties in the form of fasts and feasts, abstinences and diets of radishes, giving these females as their authority.” (Cited in Henry BeKenson, ea., Documents of the Christian Church (London: Oxford, 1963), 77.) (Charismatic Chaos, John F. MacArthur, 1991, p. 73)

Shakers [Mother Ann Lee] ~ 1700′s
Another group that practiced a form of tongues was the Shakers, an American sect with Quaker roots that flourished in the mid-1700s. Mother Ann Lee, founder of the sect, regarded herself as the female equivalent of Jesus Christ. She claimed to be able to speak in seventy-two languages. The Shakers believed sexual intercourse was sinful, even within marriage. They spoke in tongues while dancing and singing in a trance-like state. (Charismatic Chaos, John F. MacArthur, 1991, p. 234)
“On an August day in 1837 a class of young girls, ten to fourteen years old, was meeting for instruction at the Gathering Order in Niskeyuna. Suddenly some of them began to shake and whirl. In the evening, after they had retired, the senses of three of the children appeared withdrawn from the scenes of time, and absorbed as in a trance. They began to sing, talk about angels, and describe a journey they were making, under spiritual guidance, to heavenly places.” (The People Called the Shakers, Edward Deming Andrews, p 152)

Seventh-day Adventists [Ellen White]
Ellen White founded the Seventh-day Adventist church and members must vow to believe that she was a prophet! From the 27 Fundamental beliefs, #17 “The gift of Prophecy: One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White. As the Lord’s messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction.” Seventh-day Adventists refuted website

Christian Scientist [Mary Eddy] ~ 1941
Mrs. Eddy wrote, “I should blush to write of ‘Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures’ as I have, were it of human origin, and were I, apart from God, its author. But, as I was only a scribe echoing the harmonies of heaven in divine metaphysics, I cannot be super modest in my estimate of the Christian Science textbook.” (Mary Baker Eddy, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany (Boston: First Church of Christ, Scientist, 1941), 115.) Although the errors of Christian Science regarding God, Christ, and the Scriptures are well documented in numerous books, Mrs. Eddy was convinced she was used by God to reveal his truth for her day. (Charismatic Chaos, John F. MacArthur, 1991, p. 80)
Mrs. Cardale and her sister Emily ~ 1831
She was a member of Edward Irving’s congregation in England and on April 30, 1831 she began to speak in other tongues and prophesy. Irving was impressed and did not exercise any restraint towards this member’s activity. Soon Mrs. Cardale’s sister Emily also began to speak in tongues and prophesy, and others followed them. The end result was that Rev. Irving was eventually excommunicated from the Presbyterian Church and he formed his own organization. He was defrocked not so much for the charismatic extremism but for his heterodox view of the nature of Christ, his Christology was aberrant. Irving’s organization later began to promote to concept of restored prophets and apostles. Irving also believed that tongues and prophecy had divine origin and were truly revelatory in nature. As with Montanus (Montanism heresy , the role of the two women prophetesses became pronounced and set a pattern destined to be repeated over the coming years.

Agnes Ozman beginning of modern Pentecostalism ~ 1901
The modern Pentecostal movement began on January 1, 1901, in Bethel Bible College in Topeka, Kansas, operated by Charles Parham, a minister with a background in the Holiness movement. The students began to seek the baptism of the Spirit with tongues, and Agnes Ozman was the first student to experience speaking in tongues. She claimed she spoke in several languages immediately. She is the first woman in North America to speak in tongues!

Woodworth-Etter, Maria ~ (1844-1924)
She was one of the more mystical of all the neo-Montanist women. She was a traveling evangelist, one of the first women to take this role in America and was initially part of the holiness-healing movement. In the 1880′s she was known to go into trances and stand stock-still for hours and sometimes days. During these trance times people would come into her meetings and be miraculously healed or converted. In 1890 she reports people receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit as evidenced with the speaking in other tongues and people seeing heavenly visions. “The Holy Ghost was present in great power, with gifts, signs, and visions, following the laying-on-of-hands. There were visible signs of light and glory on the pulpit, and through the congregation seen by the natural eye by some” (Signs & Wonders, Harrison House, pg. 150-151). Sister Woodworth-Etter is possibly the source for many of the aberrant doctrines taken up by the New Order of the Latter Rain in the late 1940′s. She practiced the laying on of hands for healing (which is Biblical), delivering people from demons, and conveying spiritual gifts. Tremendous healing’s allegedly took place in her meetings, including the raising of the dead on certain occasions. Sister Etter started twelve churches, ordained twelve ministers to pastor these churches. In 1918 she built the Woodworth-Etter Tabernacle (humble huh?) in Indianapolis in which she served as pastor until her death. She must be counted as the “mother” of today’s Signs & Wonders Movement.

Foursquare Gospel Church [Aimee Semple McPherson] ~ 1920′s – 1930′s
Nationally known healing evangelist in the 1920′s – 1930′s. Founded and headed the Foursquare Gospel Church, led a controversial life and died of a drug overdose in 1944.

Kathryn Kuhlman
Kathryn Kuhlman was ordained a Baptist minister, but did not associate her ministry with any denomination She was heavily influenced by the Azusa street revival, and by the Roman Catholic church. She was well known for the manifestations that occurred at her meetings, including “laughter”. She is said to be responsible for the introduction of the manifestation of “Slain in the Spirit”. There were some differences to the current movement, though, in that she insisted that her meetings be orderly. Manifestations interrupting the service were not permitted. She was highly regarded in many Christian circles, and strongly influenced Benny Hinn and John Arnott.
Pensacola/Brownsville blessing ~ 1995-2000
The testimonies of the two young girls at Pensacola mark a major shift in that revival.
Hank Hanegraaff, author of the book Counterfeit Revival, criticized the revival for “serious distortions of biblical Christianity” in the meetings, comparing the physical manifestations to pagan practices.[SUP][15][/SUP] Kilpatrick responded by issuing a prophecy aimed at Hanegraaff, claiming “within 90 days the Holy Ghost will bring you down.” This prophecy proved to be false.[SUP][16]

Prophetic Witchcraft (Charismatic voodoo) versus the True Prophetic Word

Prophetic Witchcraft (Charismatic voodoo) versus the True Prophetic Word
I’ve been pondering what I call prophetic witchcraft and the true prophetic word. I mean what’s the difference between a true prophet versus a false prophet or a psychic? The accuracy I tell you is NOT what makes a prophet true as false prophets can get the accuracy right on as well. In Ezekiel 14:3, the Word came to Ezekiel, “Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts, and put before them that which causes them to stumble into iniquity.

Should I let Myself be inquired of at all by them?” These men set idols in their heart. An idol takes the place of the Father, fulfilling some deep longing in the heart. He says you shall not make idols for yourself (Lev 26:1). An idol is something that moves or memorizes you more than our creator. The story of Balaam and Balak is an excellent example of this (Num 22-24; 31:16; Rev 2:14; Jude 11; 2 Pet 2:15). Yah (the Father’s name) calls covetousness idolatry.

The desire for recognition and honor can be an idol. We can say we’re destined for greatness and it’s true, but it can become an idol when the motive is through the eyes of men. The leader of father in the faith can also become an idol if you’re looking to the man, not the Father who is leading the man. I've dealt with this before and HE IS JEALOUS FOR US. I said JEALOUS. The desire for companionship could even become an idol as we can potentially seek things outside of His will and the sad thing about it is if we want something bad enough he will give it to us even if it’s not what is His best for us. This could range from wrong relationships, security, fear, etc. There are things that will hinder us from walking in what the Father has ordained for us. Yes, being in an assignment that isn’t what we were called to do is horrible. When we’re walking in our destiny, that’s in our dna, it’s what we were made for. There's a unique calling on each one that ONLY we can fulfill.

"Everyone of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, and puts before him what causes him to stumble into iniquity, and then comes to the prophet, I Yah will answer him who comes, ACCORDING TO THE MULTITUDES OF HIS IDOL (Ez 14:4).” Are you getting this? They will therefore not see rightly. If people come before a prophet with idolatry and request counsel, they may get a word, they may be shown accurate information to the “t.” Their mail may be read, thoughts of their heart that no one knew even may be exposed, but that word is not going to be Elohim’s will and we will be accountable for it.

We know this because the Father will answer that one according to the multitude of his idols. Verse 7-9 says “For every one of the house of Isra'el, or of the stranger that sojourns in Isra'el, which separates himself from Me, and sets up his idols in his heart, and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I Yah will answer him by Myself: And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and you shall know that I am Yah.

And IF THE PROPHET BE DECEIVED when he has spoken a thing, I Yah HAVE DECEIVED THE PROPHET, and I will stretch out my hand on him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Isra'el (KJV).” That prophet will be deceived when he speaks . It’s prophetic, but it’s false. It’s real information but not from the Father. It’s rooted in covetousness, in giving the people what they want, not what they need. It’s an abomination.

This was going ALL THE TIME in Jeremiahs day for “from the least of them even to the greatest of them, everyone is given to covetousness; And from the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely (Jer 6:13). It then says they have healed my people slightly saying peace when there is no peace. It’s false comfort. If they were content, they wouldn’t need to receive a word like this. Idolatry caused them to receive words that speak directly to those wants and carnal/lusts which strengthen those desires. It’s so pivotal even when we pray for another to not pray with an idol in our heart or we can hear something that’s not from Yah. Like I said we can want something so bad, that Elohim (in Hebrew) not coming against anyone’s free will, He will actually give it to you. These discontentments whether it was their reputation, appearance, growth, or agendas can be persuaded in light of their desires bringing deception that this was actually Elohim. It brings massive confusion. Don’t I know this. WOW

Another good example of this would be Jehosaphat and Ahab (2 Chr 18). The prophets of Elohim spoke to Ahab’s hearts desire for gain. Ahab received words he wanted to hear and refused the true words by the prophet Micaiah (not Micah) which wouldve brought protection and deliverance (v 18-22). Verse 22 reads “YaHuWaH has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these prophets of yours (not His), and Yah has declared disaster against you.” Today there are prophets all over saying Thus saith Yah but is it Elohim or is it inspired by deceptive forces (familiar spirits) or idolatry? You must weight these things out. Test the spirits. I'm speaking to me as well. It's pivotal beloved.

Remember, if a man comes to the prophet with a word with an idol in his heart, Yah will see to it that the prophet is deceived in His answer. Instead of calling people back to the heart of Elohim with sound words they draw them away with words that feed the idols in the heart. In 2 Tim 4:3, Paul foresaw this coming again where people will know longer endure sound doctrine but after their own lusts they will go after those who have itching ears, who give them what their covetous hearts want to hear.

That’s all over the place today. I’m talking about those who hear words or prophesies that feed their carnal desires and speak to that desire out of that idol, and they just obey that word, having no discernment. They never even heard from the Father spirit to spirit. It’s like Isra’el of old who said no Mosheh (Moses) you go to the mountain and we’ll obey. The prophetic word has always been to conform what the Father is speaking or will speak, not to take action because you heard something that fed your desire. The Father gives us what we need, not always what we want.

If you move on a prophetic word (assignment, destination, marriage, financial move) you will doubt it the first opposed circumstance that comes. We need the Spirit communication. We need ask the Father for prophets who will speak faithfully whether it’s welcomed or not. Yes even correction. We want truth. Beloved When you ask for that, don’t be surprised when you get it. It may not always be what you want, but IT IS what you need. That’s what a loving Father does but remember He won’t override your will, because that’s a lack of love and He cannot not love. It’s who He is. When these prophetic people come in and speak this garbage, speak this information that’s true, but just feeds the flesh, both are deceived. It’s like going to a psychic and getting information that will set you on a course that the Father never intended for you. Get this.

Elohim tells Jeremiah “Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are in your midst deceive you, nor listen to YOUR DREAMS WHICH YOU CAUSE TO DREAM. For they prophesy falsely to you in My name; I have not sent them, says Yah (Jer 29:8-9).” We encourage them by our own discontentment and idolatry. We have a part in all this and must repent of our discontent and covetous desire for gain.

Do you see here that theres dreams that YOU CAN cause to be dreamed. How? It’s based upon that idol in your heart. What am I saying? I’m saying that there are those prophesying out of their own soul, those who are prophelying according to their own idol in their heart, yes maybe you loved this man of Elohim, he was used mightily, and you started to desire to be under him to be with him.

He became an idol in your life, maybe even subconsciously, and some out of town prophet came and spoke to that desire, that desire that you haven’t yet expressed openly and you just assumed accurate information is from the Father. Maybe you said in your heart of hearts I will follow this man, as Elisha followed Elijah and serve him for my life. And this prophet that comes says I see you being under this man in a mighty ministry of healing. Maybe you want to be in ministry not for the people but because of the platform and honor.

You were never meant to make ANY decision based off a word that the father didn’t speak to your spirit. The word that divides between soul and spirit would’ve saved you from that. I’ve heard story after story of lives, marriages, and families TOTALLY shipwrecked because they moved on a prophetic word. NO!! We need to hear the father spirit to spirit. For ourselves. Beloved He is STILL speaking. Always.

Desire for success is a major force behind false prophecy's acceptance in the church. His words will give you what you need NOT just to reflect your desires. It brings healing. LIFE!! Again I point to the fact that the Father will never release you somewhere if it’s not your time and you will know. He plants us in His house (Ps 92:13) and He rewards us based on our faithfulness, not our ambition (which is a desire for gain).

Maybe you have had like we all do a desire for companionship, etc and you started to have dreams that fed the idol in your heart, or the thing that you really really desired. But you didn’t know it was the Father. But hey you started having these dreams so your like man man this is crazy because soo attracted to the girl or guy right? It was a desire right? So you start to think that’s the Father confirming things. Not that He couldn't speak in that way, but that could also be a idol in the heart that you want soo soo bad. Ok the point is MAKE NO MOVE without direct communication from the Spirit inside of you. You even have someone pray for you and their like WOW, I see a marriage on the horizon coming very soon for you. It feeds what you want right when it might not be what you need.

You can have dreams and words spoken to you BASED ON WHAT YOU WANT, not necessarily what you need. VITAL. See it gives you what you want and can devastate you if you’ve not heard that communication spirit to spirit. What is that? ITS DISTRACTION. Brings NO GOODNESS... that is for sure. Yes your heart can be sooo right and yet you be sooo sooo off. It’s humiliating really. I’m trying to help you. I HAVE SOO BEEN THERE. I’ve had a cycle of this happen in my past and more than anything IT BRINGS CONFUSION going off this word, or that word or going off of a dream when there is an idol in our hearts. It’s sooo deceptive. This is also true with soul ties, can have dreams dreams and dreams and can mess with your thoughts and imagination, but just need to release that person and that person from you.

In my past I had even a soul tie of a closer brother in the Spirit. It's real. Not always romantic relationships. Let me also say to be VERY VERY careful praying prayers of future destination, call, spouse, children, for others. I mean prophetic witchcraft is soo pulling. For example if I'm called to the nations and someone or a group of people pray for me to be the youth pastor and keeps praying it, they are praying something outside of the will of the Father against His will for me and it can have a pull to it, that can make me think about not going to the nations not doing what I know I'm called to.

THIS IS REAL. It brings confusion. It's pulling. It's very very DANGEROUS to pray a prayer against someone's will. It is witchcraft. You don't do that. Praying to marry a certain girl or boy is VERY DANGEROUS as well, His timing is perfect. Don't awaken love before the time. We don't pray against someones will. Dangerous. It's very safe to pray for the spirit of wisdom and revelation be released to them, come to understanding etc, come to ancient paths etc #BEFREE

Blanket of delusion settling down over the charismatic movement | Ian Vincent

[h=2]Blanket of delusion settling down over the charismatic movement[/h]False prophets/teachers are taking certain allegories or metaphors from the Bible and applying them today in a way which the Lord Jesus and the Apostles never applied them. Common allegorical teachings of the “prophetic movement” include:
* Joel’s Army – (church taking over the world, but Joel was referring to God’s judgment coming)
* Bridal Paradigm – (Jesus as “lover” – applying sexual metaphors from the Song of Solomon to “intimacy” with Jesus. Next step is a “jesus” who comes to make love with them)
* Joseph Anointing – (more delusions of grandeur)
* Taking the Land/Dominionism – (applied to the Israelites, doesn’t apply to us)
* Pastor as King/Touch Not the Lord’s Anointed – (doesn’t relate to the NT Church and teachings)
* Jezebel/Ahab/Absalom
* Birthing the Kingdom – (believing that intercessors give spiritual birth to the Kingdom on earth by “travailing in pain” like a woman giving birth)
* The tabernacle of David
* Wealth transfer – (all the wealth of the wicked to come to the righteous. But this refers to the millennial reign of Christ, after His coming)
etc..
Did Jesus and His apostles teach any of this?
Did they practice any of this stuff?
What does the NT teach concerning any of these things?
I feel such a sadness when I consider how many precious people are caught up in these delusions. It’s like a blanket of delusion settling down over the charismatic movement.
