Bible is my guide, in the old testament kings and people have been drinking wine and its not a sin. I know that too much of everything is bad and sin even when u drink water too much, Eat too much, do everything more than normal. Jesus turn water to wine Even the king question why they kept the good wine which means its a normal wine. Galatians 5:21 talk about Drunkenness, so when you drink and not drunk it not a sin.

The bible says not to become drunk with wine but be filled with the Holy Spirit Ephesians 5:18. The way I understand it is a little wine is fine...but drunkenness is a sin.

I believe that drinking is not a sin, though drunkiness. For in the state of drunkiness we can't receive instructions by our spirit from our Father in heaven. Too much of everything is bad, if u gotta drink, drink moderately. If u know u can't control the drinking habit, then u've gotta stop.

Every time I hear this question asked I think about that party where Jesus thought "now that everyone's buzzed, Let's bring out the good stuff". (Just kidding please don't stone me!)

As everyone has mentioned numerous times in the new testament it says not to drink too much. Going back to the book of Proverbs it gives slightly more insight. In one instance it says to let a poor man drink so that he can forget his troubles, and in the same book, a king should not drink so that he can have clear judgment. It's just one of those things that needs to be handled with extreme wisdom and care.

You must compare Scripture with Scripture. The wird wine is used to describe both fresh fruit of the vine as well as fermented juice. Fermentation is a picture of sin...so there is one indication which meaning to apply to the word wine when you read it. Also in Proverbs it says to not even look at the wine when it arises itself....Prov.23:30... anothher indication is the fact wine was used medicinally. They did not have the medications we have. We have no need to use wine medicinally now.

If you are drunk you can't have a clear judgement and you can do bad things to other people too without having memories of these facts (how many car accidents are due to drunk people for examples) . I think that is for these reasons that drunkness is a sin. Meanwhile simply drink let you have an unaltered mental state so you can decide for the right.

Drinking is a personal choice. If you don't feel right about it, don't do it. If you feel its ok to drink a little, then you're free to. There is no flat right/wrong answer as to if it's right or wrong for everyone.

Many times when the Bible refers to wine, it is simply talking about grape juice. There is no evidence to prove that Jesus ever drank a drop of alcohol. Alcohol is poison to the body, so why would Jesus, who is perfect in every way poison his body. My problem with the moderation theory is this..If i drink one glass of wine im ok? ok how about 2 glasses, am i still ok? How about 3 or 4? or 7 or 8? So9 i have only sinned if i drink enough to get drunk? If its wrong to do something 8 times, it's wrong to do it once

I think that the drinking/alcohol issue should very much be handled with grace, and consideration for one's brother. I attend a denomination where in order to become a 'covenant' member one would have to be completely without alcohol, which I believe is a small thing to give up/not a big deal. I am not currently a covenant member yet,but have considered being one, praying about it. However, I believe that if one causes a brother or sister who is weak in this dept to stumble..that is sinfull and not out of love, and God will hold us accountable for it. However,if one does have the capacity to drink in moderation, hopefully that person does not look upon the one who abstains and judges them..and vise versa. Some instances are surely accepted, however,if one can abstain,it is ideal. You cannot get drunk if you avoid alcohol altogether, right?
