anyone from the Bible who would you be? I realize this isn't possible, but there are so many great figures from the Old to the New Testement...you must admire someone or loved someone's life enough that trading places would have been ideal (so you think). So, who would you be and WHY?

From a more spiritual standpoint, I would be God's angel, Michael. Unlike Gabriel, when Michael showed up, it was usually not good for whoever he was about confront. I love Gabriel and all the other great angels who are mentioned, but Michael's missions seem to be filled with excitement and a sense of danger, but you know he's going to pull out of it as the victor, of course.

From a more selfish standpoint, I would be Asenath, who was the wife of Joseph from the Book of Genesis. What a great catch Joseph was...extremely loyal to God, a great businessman, loved his family, good-looking and he was outstanding as both a leader and a follower. Who wouldn't want a husband like that? So, who would you be and WHY?
And thanks for playing along with me!

Wow, that's not an easy question to answer.....given that most of the folks who served God in the First and New Testaments surely "suffered" many trials and afflictions........and, yes, in the end they remained faithful.........but, I dunno. Have to think about this one awhile.......

:) Thanks for the thread.

I really like Paul... I love his story and how God showed himself to him... I also love Moses' story.... I think I would find most in common with Moses... I just like the fact that Moses had no clue where he was going in life... He was a average person who wan not exceptional at really anything and God used him for greatness... That is a story that sings to my heart... And the fact that Moses doubted God, yet God still used him and God showed him there is no reason to doubt God's power... That is extremely cool...

I like both of them also brother, and pretty much ALL the men that God used in all of Scripture......however, did you consider the trials and tribulations that both Paul and Moses had to endure? Would you gladly accept these severe trials and tribulations? Wow.........I dunno if I am that brave.........maybe, dunno, I strive to put my faith in God, BUT if I knew ahead of time that I would be beaten over and over again, tortured, imprisoned, and so forth........well........just saying..... :)

I thank God these all held true to their faith...........

I love that Moses' story sings to you. I think out of all the people in the Bible (besides Jesus of course), I have the most RESPECT for Moses. The task of leading those thousands of personalities for years and years is truly significant. Moses and God had a relationship like no other you can find in the Bible, and the most touching moment in the Old Testament for me, so far, haven't found anything that tops this... is when Moses asked God to show him his glory (Ex 33:13-23). That whole bit is amazing.

I still haven't decided if Paul or Peter is my favorite New Testament figure. I have such admiration for both for different reasons. Great choices, thanks for responding!

I know most cling to Peter, and love him with so much of their hearts... I just like how Paul was actually known very well in his community... He had to go against everything he was known for and ever said... Swallow all his words and pride against Jesus, and live a life that many wouldn't understand... And be hatted by the world instead of praised... I know Peter had to do many of the same... But it just seems like Pauls realization of Christ, hit him like a freight train...

What about James? Who was considered to be the Pastor of the church at Jerusalem?

Not a bad choice either...........

I choose Deborah, the wise judge who led her people into battle. She had no scandals (unlike Samson and Gideon) and led Israel into 40 years of peace.

Interesting fact: I just found out that Deborah means "bee" in Hebrew. My first name means "honeybee" in French. I did not realize the similarity when I chose her; I was just fascinated that she was sought out for her wisdom and was a bold leader of men. How encouraging! :)

Surprisingly, I'd either want to be the woman at the well or Mary at Jesus' feet with the alabaster box. :)

It's surprising because of my stance on purity that I would want to be either of these women, but something about their stories and their deep love for Jesus after He touched their lives strikes a deep chord within me. As Jesus says, one who has been forgiven much, loves much. I have been forgiven much and I love Him so very much. :) Just to be one of these women who had their lives changed so dramatically would be awesome to me.

Now, from the Old Testament, I would want to be Ruth, because she was willing to give up everything for her mother-in-law and even go so far as to choose God over her people's gods...which led to her being blessed with Boaz and to be in Jesus' lineage. Wonderful redeeming story! :)

One thing I have noticed is that Jesus and the disciples always seemed to be eating........they sure loved to eat.........Jesus EVEN cooked breakfast for them AFTER His resurrection.......and right out there on the shore line...........wow!

Maybe I should choose to be one of the ones He cooked for? What a blessing that would be........never have to worry about breakfast being overcooked......... :)

David.....
Little David standing up against Goliath. He wasen' t afraid of big bad Goliath, while the Children of Israel were afraid of him.
You have a big bad giant in your life? Just do like David....Trust The Lord, keep him first...and your Giant will fall as well!!

Who was the guy that went in with 1 other person I believe it was his armor bearer and took on a full army by themselves because they believed God was full of miracles... And they actually by that 1 act created a movement so strong even the people hiding in the caves came to charge at the fleeing enemies...

I like him... :)

My heros (and heroines) are martyrs. I'd like to be lioke Stephen in Acts 7. First reason - he could make somebody REALLY angry. People were "seething" in anger at his faith as he "saw the Christ sitting on the right hand of the Father" as he was stoned to death for his faith. This sacrifice by Stephen's blood was an important turning point in the birth of Christ's church. Stoning has to be the worst sort of death.

Though not biblical, St. Perpetua is my heoine. A mother at 22 she gave over her life in payment for her faith. I chose her as my guardian saint.
