Can anyone truly say that before Almighty God? I didn't sin today ...think about it. Be honest ...not that I haven't tried. :)

I don't have to think about it. I know I will sin, whether it is in my actions, my words, my thoughts, I will sin. I do not sin intentionally but, I sin. I repent, ask for forgiveness, and give Glory to God for loving me so much that He sent His Son to die for my sins.

When you are the one 'trying', you are not giving the Holy Spirit a chance to work in and through you.

The reason I started this thread was because I struggled with this for years I kept wondering if I'm the only Christian who still sins on a daily basis. As I read about Paul Peter and John and their way of life I thought to myself I'm so far off from them but in my heart I desired to follow God and to be honest I even question my salvation ,but I believe that Satan wants us to believe this and tries to keep us alone in these thoughts
Excuse my grammar

God will forgive you for intentional sinning and unintentional sinning. We do both every day, but we really try not to willfully sin (knowing something is wrong but doing it anyway)because that is worse and it grieves the Holy Spirit. There is a Psalm of David that speaks of God's wonderful forgiveness.

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. [SUP]2 [/SUP]Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

Like:). We aren't sinners because we sin. We sin because we are sinners. And God knows it. Yet - He still loves us. Grace - unmerited favor.

You sound new in the Lord. We have all been conditioned by old time religion that put so much emphasis on sin and/or the law. The law is good - it shows us that we are in fact sinners. But after accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior, we need to, and hopefully will begin to understand how much His precious blood has accomplished for us. And as we grow in Him, the more we will automatically start expressing His nature instead of ours.

Don't expect too much from yourself. This may sound harsh, but you cannot please God. Only His Son pleases Him. So when He sees His Son expressed from and out of you, then He is pleased.

It's O.K. to fail. But don't go back to the starting line to start over. Just get up and stay in the race. You'll be O.K.

Well that's good. But we still have this 'thing' in the back of our minds that we have to be, or strive to be perfect. We don't. We just have to love the Lord Jesus for what He has done for us. It's as simple as that.

"But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." 2 Cor. 11:3.:)

We, are the ones who make it complicated.

Thanks Tripsin about 2 weeks ago my wife lost her sister to cancer we looked after her and her alzheimers husband
for almost a year. She was a godly woman loved the Lord and inspired me in many ways.At the time of her death
it was sad to see her stuggling with cancer and she was so afraid of dying and it made me question as I did today about my own walk sometimes.I guess that's why I brought up the subject.

Certainly the Lord uses these events in time to draw us closer to Him and go deeper. It's a good thing. It makes me think I better get my stuff together because He is coming back soon. But I don't beat myself up - I know I'm weak, but I also know he loves me.

Did you ever read what the Lord had against the seven churches in Revelation? Look at the church in Philadelphia. He didn't have anything against them. He was pleased with them. All they had was 1) a little strength, 2) kept His word, and 3) did not deny His name. For that He sat before them an open door that could not be shut. That's us.:) Praise the Lord.

Thank you so much Morty for posting this.

I, like you have struggled with this very question. The response from our fellow Christians has cleared it all up.

Your sister in Christ,

Thanks Trispin. That was the first thought that came to my mind. I wish I could live a sinless life like Jesus did but, we are imperfect. I am trying to do my best and follow the Word. I want to please God more than anything

It doesn't matter how many sins you do or don't do. What matters is your attitude towards sin and repentance.

He is pleased with us. We have accepted His Son as our Savior. In Him, we are fully righteous. He has accomplished it all for us. Nothing left for us to do but enjoy. (Well, you know what I mean .)
