Cyphercat's Riddles and Cryptospeak Superthread!

We'll start with one off the top of my head. Tell me, what am I referring to?
A man walks into a bank with a handful of money.
One of the tellers pulls a gun on him.
The man throws the money at an armed guard.
The armed guard thanks the man and they have lunch with the teller.

The answer is not what it immediately appears to be.
It is something you do every day.
Here's a clue: Money is something exchanged. Words can be exchanged.
Here's the best clue I can offer: I am the armed guard. We are having lunch.

What am I talking about in this one?

I was walking along the ocean. I tripped on a brick.
I looked to see where the brick was, and it lay upon a book.
I picked up the book and threw the brick into the ocean.
I started to read the book, and I learned how to make the same brick.
I made a brick and asked the book to swallow it up.

Clues:
Everyone here has done this.
If I was walking, then the brick interrupted my walk.
By reading the book, I gained knowledge.
