Wasn't sure where to put this. But I've been thinking about this. I have an account on twitter just for praising God, and talking to other Christians. I have noticed every day that there are these atheists who seem to make it their goal to talk bad and mock anything we say (why do they talk so much about something that doesn't exist?). I'm guessing these are militant atheists. They are so angry... They attack anything we say. I don't understand why they do this, since everyone is minding their business, and just being happy. I even replied nicely to one atheist, who was a bit rude, and told him "well, congratulations on being a new father! have a nice day" since i saw on his profile he is a new dad. He replied with, "ummm ok..?" I really don't understand these people... Of course, it's not all atheists. I've seen some christians reply with rude words as well (i can't blame them. they are being attacked for no reason, and sick of it), but what should a christian do in situations like that? just ignore them? reply kindly? i find it useless to reply kindly because they don't care. what is your opinion? Also, do you think Christians are an easy target? I rarely see other religions being attacked.

Us Christians are easily targeted, And it is very difficult to ignore the atheists. I also have quiet a few friends on Facebook that are that way about stuff that I post. One was about this monument of SATAN being set right next to the 10 commandments (crazy is what i thought that was) and the bill of rights is still being pending. If that bill passes or whatever, then yes, more and more atheists are going to think they have the power to over rule us. I have yet to talk to an atheist who hasnt had problems in their lives, they just say its life. But I know they are in pain, but they wont do anything about it. I ignore all the rude comments, or do the whole "kill'em with kindness" as much as it pains me to do it, that is what God expects of us.

I know, it's really hard for me too. I used to explode on them, but that gave them the satisfaction, and I knew I lost.
For those of us who are nice, the kindness really bothers them it seems. So you're right with the "kill em with kindness" haha. I guess being kind or ignoring are both the best ways.. Anyone else have any stories or suggestions?:rolleyes:

Besides the Jews, Christians are the most hated group on the planet and Jesus knew persecution would follow His faithful ones:

"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of this world, but I have chosen you out of this world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember, the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also." {John 15:18-20}

And how does Jesus tell us to handle this:

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." {Matthew 5:44}

I agree about being kind to anyone who attacks me because I am a Christian. I refuse to stoop to their level. Even though it can be very hard, I try to show them the love that Christ would show them......in my opinion, I think that is what He would want me to do.

Do what littlebit1987 says, or you can ignore them.

You might understand them better if you think of them as satanists rather than atheists. Then lots of things about them start to make more sense.

As for what to do with them. Pray for them. From my experiences, that's about all you can do, as conversing with them is fruitless. They're as far away from God as they want to be, and it's not the fault of you or the other Christians on there.

Christians are often entertainment for atheists online who are really bored. They enjoy going about the Internets, looking for Christians to engage with their "reason", "logic", and "intelligence". Engaging Christians to them is just an opportunity to show themselves and others how "smart" they are. So basically Christians are a source for intellectual ego growing and/or entertainment for the atheist online.

Refuse to allow yourself to be used for their entertainment and ego growth.

I find the entertainment thing hard to believe. They're far too intent in their attacks and have goals of seeing Christianity outlawed and the Bible eliminated from the whole earth for their efforts to be nothing more than mere entertainment.

You clearly haven't been on the Internet as long as some of us. :p

The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God
(Psalms 14:1)

Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.

(Proverbs 23:9)

When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. Then Pilate asked him, “Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?”
But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor.
(Matthew 27:12-14)

Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife;
quarrels and insults are ended.

One who loves a pure heart and who speaks with grace
will have the king for a friend.

(Proverbs 22:10-11)

I had started a thread for them to ask questions (hoping to win one over). I have a step brother who is one. His Mother was
an avid "religious" person, but without the fruit of love and such. Her Brother abused him for years. So we really dont know why
they are that way. It would be nice if they would seek the Lord and understand who he is. The Lord of eternity who loves them.

As someone in the general realm of agnosticism/atheism, I agree that its rude to just randomly find Christians who aren't levying any attacks against you and attack them. I have seen some atheists attack other religions, but I think Christians are often the main target because most english speakers are Christian, and many people who use the internet speak english. And of course many may have had previous experiences being Christian or had bad interactions with Christians in the past. I certainly know its difficult to understand the 'other', whether it being viewing a Christian from an atheists perspective or visa versa (I've done both). In the past I've just sort of wanted to argue, but I think that the best way for people with different religions, or without a religion to interact is a respectful discussion, attempting mutual understanding.

I would block them from your account. Honestly, you and your friends are there for Christian fellowship, you don't need that and you don't have to put up with it. God Bless.
