Should guns be used for self defense?
Debate it here!
The only reason people can post here is because of "gun's". Before the revolution we "talked" with the British and got nowhere. We then took up "gun's" and whipped them good. Britian "talked" peace with Hitler and he began bombing England a few weeks later. Britian went to war with "gun's" and whipped them as well. We "talked" with Japan and they bombed us early one morning. You know what happened after that. Try "talking" to a person high on drugs that breaks into your home and they'll likely kill you and your family. To the bad guy's life means very little. The lives of you and your family means nothing at all.

Defending your home and family is your responsibility. Knowing how and when to use a gun is also your responsibility. In most states the only people allowed to have "gun's" are the bad guy's. Law's mean nothing to bad guy's. When your family is in danger of being raped and killed will you stand by and watch? Or pick up a "gun" and stop the bad guy's. Hopefully you'll never have to make that decision. There's many cases where "gun's" have stopped crimes and saved lives of innocent people.

If you believe that you'll loose your own soul if you do use a gun, while you watch as other's are being killed, then good luck living with yourself.

What happened after that was 2 atom bombs and millions of civvie casualties. You know it's funny you're all for guns, cause the current war with the mujaheddin (a breach of the highest degree under the Geneva convention, btw, which Britain and the USA fought to instate, on actual battlefields, with guns, so that we could have peace), is being fought against the US and UK armies with armaments the US sold to them in the first place during the cold war.

Guns are a means to death or injury. That's it. That's all they are. Battles are fought with jets and bombers and drone strikes these days, tactics that kill so many civilians it makes me sick. Guns are a formality in war nowadays.

We banned guns in NI, and the proof is in the pudding. Compare before and after the ban. Compare per capita firearm deaths with the US (the US has 3x as many firearm murders as the UK has entire murders, per capita). The difference is astonishing.

You act like every one of your families will be immediately raped and killed after a gun ban, when in reality most murders by firearm in the US are in civilian disputes, accidents, suicides, or by the mentally ill, for the simple fact that the US sucks at providing healthcare to its citizens and lacks the proper diagnosing tools. The risk of any of these will be dramatically reduced on seizure of firearms.

The rest is gun violence, in certain communities, due to gang problems.

Very few murders are where some guy comes in your house, rapes your wife and murders your family. That's like psychopath, serial killer stuff. The rarest of the rare.

Jhana, your false assertion has already been refuted. Repeating it only demonstrates that you are in a state of denial and willful ignorance.

The New Government War On U.S. Gun Owners ~ Help Fix America First

Mexico, China, etc... are all nations in large land masses that have extraordinary gun violence even though private gun ownership is outlawed or so strictly controlled that private ownership of firearms capable of adequate self-defense is practically nil.

All you are doing is depriving people of their human right to self-defense against armed criminals which makes you morally complicit in their victimization (e.g. murder, maiming, robbery, etc...).

You're a perpetrator of criminality because you ensure that people are unable to defend themselves against criminals who always have access to firearms which, as has been shown to you in this thread, are easily made from completely benign parts obtainable from any local hardware store.

If forced to make a choice, it is better to deprive you of any legal right to assist criminals by outlawing your ability to act on their behalf against their intended victims than it would be to deprive the intended victims of their human right to adequately defend themselves.
What are you talking about? I don't deprive anyone of anything. I don't make the laws.

However, my country's firearm murder rate, and knife crime rate (Northern Ireland), is exceptionally lower percentage wise, than the US. Much of it is because we have a no tolerance policy to guns and knives. That is a simple fact.

Go back and look at the NORTHERN IRELAND statistics.

We have low rape rates. And most of the violent crime comes from isolated, religiously motivated incidents. Or from political riots, in which deaths are rare and injuries usually not serious.

Gun crime is not a major issue here. Nor knife crime. Nor rape.

Our major issues at present are political protesting and a massive swell in underage drinking and the odd hoax bomb. That's about the height of it.

Yeah THIS looks like political murder and mayhem Huh? Or maybe a society completely devoid of a soul and a Biblical outlook.

Again, it's easy to look at a few incidents and say 'that whole system is awful'. Like you did with England and the riots, mistakenly thinking Northern Ireland is London ???

But in reality the NHS is one of the most highly funded health systems in the world, with top quality, world class researchers, specialists and surgeons.

People from all over the world have come to NHS surgeons for life saving surgeries, like siamese twins and people with extremely rare genetic conditions.

Not that it's relevant to the thread, it just seems like you're more patriotic than you are sensible or realistic.

wow. is thing on? hello mcfly!
I really can't believe I have to explain this. How do riots in England work in response to a comment that I made on NORTHERN IRELAND?? How is NORTHERN IRELAND anything to do with 'London England proper son?'

Check a map dude. It's like talking to a child in a tantrum. The topic was gun crime.

This makes me cringe. Are you really that in love with a gun and the big red white and blue banner that you have to derail into attacking a government which I have no involvement in just because I touched a nerve? Uncle Sam got you good.

Was I, or was I not, talking about Northern Ireland?

We've had our own government since about 1970.
So does Wales and Scotland, but they are still part of the U.K.

If you weren't so proud to be a part of Britain why have you chosen that as your flag?
