There are many scriptures out there that have been miss-quoted through out time, name how you have heard a verse quoted along give the actual quote.....I will start.

"Spare the rod spoil the child" ( miss-quoted version )

Proverbs 13:24 " He who spares his rod hates his child, but he who loves him disciplines him diligently. " ( correct version )

Call you and raise you.

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils." 1 Tim. 6:10 ESV

In other words, it is just ONE of many kinds of roots of evil.

[h=3]1 Corinthians 15:33[/h]33 Be not deceived: bad company corrupts good character.

There is a popular saying in Romania based on that verse:"the bad apples spoil the good ones".

(In that verse, St.Paul was quoting a greek poet named Menandros.)

True, but not a quote from the Bible.
It's not even true.

Psalm 139:21
Do I not hate those who hate you, LORD, and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?

The ancient proverb “cleanliness is next to godliness “is believed to have come from ancient Hebrew writings. However, its first appearance in English, though in slightly altered form, seems to be in the writings of Francis Bacon entitled “Advancement of Learning” where he wrote; 'Cleanness of body was ever deemed to proceed from a due reverence to God'.

It’s from St. Augustine. His Letter 211 (c. 424) contains the phrase Cum dilectione hominum et odio vitiorum, which translates roughly to "With love for mankind and hatred of sins." The phrase has become more famous as "love the sinner but hate the sin" or "hate the sin and not the sinner" (the latter form appearing in Mohandas Gandhi’s 1929 autobiography).

[h=2]Benjamin Franklin[/h]

"God helps those who help themselves" is probably the most often quoted phrase that is not found in the Bible. This is actually a quote from Ben Franklin and it appeared in Poor Richard’s Almanac in 1757. In fact the Bible teaches the opposite. God helps the helpless! Isaiah 25:4 declares, "For You have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat..." Romans 5:6 tells us, "For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly."
