Okay so are ppl likely to use a numbing cream when going under the needle for ink? (Some tattoo artists don't seem to like to use it, anyway.)

I personally wouldn't get a tattoo, but for other things like dental work...absolutely I want numbing cream.

Sorry I couldn't answer regarding tattoos.

Okay; thanks.

The great increase in men and especially women getting tattoos in recent years may to some extent be linked to the development and availability of numbing creams.

Although some tattooees and tattoo artists also think that the pain is part of the experience.

Yes, I agree about dental work!

Blessings.

If it's something that you might like to do eventually, having it done is a very widely practised thing up here in Canada; many Christians like to get faith based designs. But it's still very much an individual choice and needs a lot of planning. The numbing creams have opened up many possibilities to ppl who might not otherwise have considered it.

PS: Some placements hurt more than others; this may also be a factor, depending what the person is expecting to get.

Does anyone think on the other hand that the pain is actually part of the tattoo experience? hence, the numbing cream would take away some of it?

I personally enjoyed the feeling. It wasn't really something I would describe as painful.

So you think the feeling of the needle and ink going into you is all part of the essential experience?

I would have to say no to the numbing cream. Getting a tattoo does not hurt the way people think it does. It is all mental, people think it will hurt so it hurts. A lot of people told me that my ankle tat would hurt because it is on my ankle bone. Nope, didn't hurt at all--not even when he was working right on the bone. I almost fell asleep while getting it done.

Sounds like you were mentally very prepared, and also that you must have very strongly wanted to do it.

So are you done inking now, or maybe planning more?

Sounds anyway like you won't be using any cream, if you do.

Some ppl even say that a bit of pain acquiring the ink they really want anyway ought to be all part of the process of getting tattooed.
