What does it take? Prayer, repentance, reading the Word, taking thoughts captive to Christ, walking in love, sharing the Gospel, fighting temptation. What does it take? Do we keep the Sabbath, feast days, etc? What laws must be written on out hearts? Thank you

What would help someone in the Christian life

Prayer and reading His Word everyday. In the Word, it should correct, guide, and teach you how to live. In prayer, always staying in tune with the Savior and leaning on His help in all things. These two will benefit you greatly on your growth as a Christian.

As a Christian, you should be already be repenting of sin. The Word of God will teach you what to do, the Spirit of God will enable you to perform it. Studying the bible is also a great benefit in your growth, because it will help you understand the scripture.

Try reading the entire new testament first, and I encourage you to study it as well.

GM777, all of what you just said here is what we must do on a daily basis!! Pray, repent of any sins, read the bible, take our thoughts to God, etc etc. The laws written on our hearts should be the ones that God has commanded of us. Love thy neighbor, treat others as you would want to be treated, keep the sabbath holy. It is impossible to live a PERFECT daily christian life, as we sin every day and stumble off the path toward God. But if we do all of the above, we are able to gain our footing on the path once again. :)

When we are circumcised we symbolize cutting away the physical so we live with the spiritual of life. In everything we do physically in the world, there is a spiritual counterpart. We eat--do we feed our bodies as the temple of God? We sleep---is it renewing ourselves. We wash the surface dirt of our bodies, are we aware of our spiritual need to wash? We speak, are we aware we must build each other up, and add joy to others. We work, is it as to the Lord?

Daily surrendering our wills to Jesus submitting ourselves to His will and abiding in Him. I like the OP as those are all things that need to be done that help us in a closer walk with Jesus. May we all strive to stay close to our Lord and Savior resting in His arms of Love.

right

there is an instruction manual, and a helpful guide in the Spirit that He has sent to you. He will help you pray, and to understand, and to worship :)

the new testament, after Romans, is for the most part a lot of letters written to churches by the apostles helping them understand how to do just what you're asking! have a look :D

but some rules of thumb:

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. See that none render evil for evil unto any
man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.

(1 Thessalonians 5:14-22)

Remember each morning how very much you are loved. Think of the price Jesus paid and how valuable you are. Expect good things from God. Read your Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten you-He will. Praying doesn't have to be on your kness, just talk to God thru the day. He always hears you and He is on your side. He'll fight your battles for you if you obey His Word.

It has become my habit each morning to ask in prayer for His guidance through my day....do the best I can....then ask for forgivness each night in prayer for the times that I stumbled.

Talk to the Lord. He loves conversations with us. Love the Lord with all your heart. Walk as a humble servant to Him and others around you. Read his Word. It is simple. You will grow day by day. Peace be upon you.

O people, the LORD has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8

One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.'This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.

Matt 22: 35-40

While I hesitate with the use of the word love as it has become so twisted in today's society, these are still the verses I'd point you towards for a way to determine whether a certain action is good or not and a few quick principles to put in your pocket. Also 2 Peter 1 is excellent.
